Hardening off?

That’s awesome, I’ll get a little more gutsy about it next time :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Regarding concerns for damping off. I don’t water right against the main stem. I always apply water in a ring around the outer perimeter of the canopy for the first couple of weeks to encourage the roots to stretch out. Once the canopy starts filling out more, then I water under the canopy closer to the stem, but I don’t water directly on or against the stem. I always leave like 6" radius dry around the main stem. Not sure if that is good to avoid damping off, but I haven’t had damping off issues after they’re in the ground.

i know this is old, but i’ll still chime in. i start inside, after germination they go into whatever growing cube/medium/cup and i keep them all in a box i made. it’s a expensive food service box i got handful of for free, like big tupperware but heavy duty. i did the inside with the white plastic from a old bag of soil and keep all my babies in that in the shade to harden them.

we have to start early and i lose a lot of seedlings on purpose because i only want the best growers (not enough time or money for 1 person and all those plants and processing time). i also use natural selection for genes too since i’ve mostly been growing on my own for all this time. nothing is named, there are some good genetics mixed in in the way of buying seeds from various places for cheap or expensive and just throwing a random couple in. never know what can happen
