Ya easy. If not feed them a little worm castings or a light tea. If they start yellowing from lack of food, I’ve found it’s easily fixable. Just don’t let them go hungry for too long. They are very forgiving plants but there’s always that desire to perfect them and there always will be I presume
Worm castings it is. Thanks fellas, these were my last SSDD seeds, just making sure I don’t F it up
Dang those were straight escaping. I always fear that happening and having to rip those out.
No problem we got your back
I ended up cutting the whole cup off
Ahhh… Makes sense.
Yea that was a real test of patience and really spiked some anxiety
I do that too. Much easier on the plant.
How’s your seedlings doing?? You gettin it down??
I may have learned it from you. I got the idea from someone on OG a while back.
Is there anything I could put on older seeds to help germination? Fulvic acid, seaweed extract, etc….
I soaked these beans for around 48 hours and they didn’t open, so I very carefully opened them with a razor blade.
Usually fingernail Clippers and just clip a tiny little ridge off without getting any meat. The seed just needs an entrance for the water then it should be fine from there. Some seeds just need to be scored.
Wonder if they will still germinate cut like that. Cudos on the steady hand haha. Just read they were older seeds not sure if the same applies as I have no experience yet with older seeds.
That’s pretty much what I have done here. Scraped the ridge off and then the tip of the seed. Kind of crack it open like a clam.
They are currently resting on a bed of moist earth worm castings. No change since the picture was taken.
These are definitely old seeds. Bag seed that could be from 10-25 years ago and not stored properly. They look alive still, but are not actually growing.
I’m really just messing around trying to get a technique for getting old seeds to germinate.
Ya they definitely look like they are full of life
Some years back, I was a big user of Dr. earth. There’s a few things that I could not get… but it works great
Not very expensive. I couldn’t get everything right when Cove it broke out. They have some great products.
