I grew up at China Lake NWC. 124 in summer, and snowy in winter, with more earthquakes than anywhere else in the US ( mainly due to the ordinance testing 
). It was pretty damned extreme there. I grew killer buds though. Death Valley is one of those places that If you can keep the plants wet they will thrive, but if you aren’t on your game you will end up with dead plants within minutes Hard as hell to dry and cure a batch though… You need a humid drying room or, once again, you end up with overly-dry product that crumbles to dust

One of my sisters had a home in Death Valley. I grew a small crop there one year back in the 70s. We put a shade canopy over the plants and they did just fine, with her tending them while I ran around the country.
We had a few humidifiers around their house, including the drying/curing room.
Actually, the town she lived in was Pahrump, NV right by DV

I feel this. Up at 4:30 for some God forsaken reason this morning. If you’re usually up at this time I probably sound whiny but I would usually have another 3 hours of sleep ahead of me.
