Really beautiful work @JohnnyPotseed
It’s good to hear the kids were taught and can carry on the tradition.
As far as I know, I and my 3 sons are the only turquoise carvers left active in the USA. Lot of wannabes from overseas lol but they don’t count. Everything we did came with s ‘Certificate of Authenticity’/ Nothing like the knockoffs at a lot of pow-wows nowadays
Lots of turquoise ‘work’ done by a lot of tribal folks, all over. but the carving? Not so much
Shaping and polishing cabochons is nothing like carving a piece of art
Holy shit johnny… do you guys offer items to buy?
We’ve pretty much sold out of all the stock we had built up. I’m not into doing anything else at this point in my life. Sorry We had display cases that stretched for over 25’ lol
Used to have a brick n mortar building, also a website, and went to many, many pow-wows lol
Just so cool bro… i had to ask
@MoBilly & @BigMike55 wives both have some of my last work, gifted on visits
lol yep, we did… Rose busted out laughing
Thats who id have gotten it for… the wife… lol
Lucky lucky boys!!
I cut & shaped/polished that fan from Kingman Turquoise, sterling silver rounds, and Mediterranean Real apple red coral.
All of my turquoise work came from only USA turquoise mines, the coral was sustainably sourced.
lol See?! I did have other talents besides just growing Ganja! We owned two business for over 35 yrs. General contractor, jewelry, but ALWAYS grew ganja during everything!
I just appreciate the art so much… its really cool… everything this unique… this rich… this genuine… is going by the wayboards.
It’s truly sad to see happen… in the end, no one will have anything of quality or substance in the future…
Our world is moving very fast into a mcdonalds style quickly produced garbage market that has no real value…
This is with art…
Music
Clothes
Crafting like johnnys amazing work
Techniques
Cooking
medicine
List goes on and on
EVERYTHING!!!
Proud to know someone like you @JohnnyPotseed
It’s up to all of us to not let these things get lost.
Thnx for taking me back down ‘memory lane’ and leaving the troubles of today behind!
However brief the respite was, I enjoyed sharing, folks.
Thank you for sharing JP.
Thanks for sharing johnny… that was super cool man for sure.
God i wish i could have been there for just 1 of those times brother
