Hey guys. Here’s a stupid question, probably. I remember back in the late 70’s and early 80’s my friend Jeff was getting some smoke that everyone just called “Red Bud”. Those buds were light green with so many red hairs that the bud looked dang near completely red.
Here’s the stupid question. Do you have any idea what strain that might have been? Before that he was always buying compressed brick weed that he said came from Mexico. When that Red Bud came around everyone and his brother was out hunting that stuff.

I know a lot of strains show red hairs… But I was just curious if that might spark a memory of that time period. I’d like to grow some that look that cool.

So sativa… I still want to grow some. :+1:t4:
Thanks @Oldjoints . Now I have a hunt going on. lol

There was Panama Red also but it was much more rare. Columbia’s Red was real popular and nationwide.

Just realize that those old strains aren’t as potent as today’s cannabis. Not by a long shot, cannabis today goes from 16% to 32% where the old strains average about 8% or so with some being a tad higher.

Thanks again @Oldjoints . I didn’t think that would be enough to nail down the strain but obviously it was. So next year I’ll grow some VB like I planned and some Red Bud if I can find any.
:+1:t4:

I missed this post. That’s OK I’m doing this kinda for Jeff. I’m also going to run another VB in remembrance of Dad.
I’ve been reading since you identified it. Allbud .com says 14 - 20% and I’m sure they are probably a little high on that figure. They always are from what I understand.
Still, the taste profile sounds amazing and mildly energetic effects will work perfect for a bump during the work day.

I actually got 2 red delicious clones with roots I put in lil pots last night I’m a lil excited to run this strain lol

That sounds interesting. I looked it up and see it’s a cross of Pacoima Kush x Red Pop. The smell profile sounds nice too. Seed Finder says it’s a blend of hops, roses and overlying funk.

Good luck with them!

Took a couple days to discuss with family. The doc told me Monday visit, my Aorta valve is normally the size of a garden hose and it’s down to the size of a straw now. They’ll wait until the other organs in my body are straightened out, which can take up to 6months-1year, because they’re afraid of complications that could make it a ‘failed’ attempt. Unless things take a turn for the worse in the meantime, which means they do emergency heart surgery immediately.
The ‘need’ for this can happen any time from now up to 3yrs max. With the heart valve replacement, I can have 5-10 yrs more or longer even. They can do another replacement at that time for another 5-10yrs, but that’s all. I think 10-20 yrs more time to pester Rose sounds good to me!
I ain’t done yet! Too many strains/crosses to do!

Hello @MoBilly if it’s Mexican Red hair that you are looking for I have a cross of that. It’s God bud X Mexican Red hair. I got it from Prairie State Genetics which is Justin Lehman . He did a lot of work with Ken Estes , GDP fame , he acquired cuts of the Mexican Red hair in the late 70’s early 80’s . :+1:
