My plants are better mathematicians than I am!

I’ve been helping friends begin growing and many are confused about light. Some think they can get away with fewer hours of light if they use stronger bulbs or are in areas with stronger sun. As you likely know, the plant runs according to the sun and the sun is very consistent. The plant likes consistency.

I guess this would be why that is. In this article they discuss how plants use math (calculus) to figure out to ration energy based on expected hours of darkness.

Pretty amazing and not surprising. I just sexed and rooted a cutting at the same time so it doesn’t surprise me that they can do math better than me too

Makes sense to me! Based on DLI they plan out the night

Thanks for sharing, interesting article, so this reinforces the idea of not having the plants with the lights on 24 hours a day? :sunglasses:

IMHO , 24 hours of light is really not good
The plant needs night time to rebuild and relax
Most development I believe comes in at night
Just my own observation
