After I tossed my fragments away, as I was looking at the picture I took, I spotted a couple Cotyledon within the fragments. It had me wondering IF a Cotyledon from its crushed former residence (the seed shell) could it survive if treated like a seed, say in a damp paper towel?
Does anyone know if that can be done. Physically remove the Cotyledon and root it out?
I donāt know why I didnāt think of this earlier @Vesti , except that it is totally unrelated practically.
I had to retrieve my Bluelab pH Truncheon spare parts I hope to revive from a box I have set aside, in that box is unused poster board, the plastic kind (Pre-made For Sale, Open House size) the kind with voids within it that I have received seeds from previously.
Interesting question - Iāll send some more again with the lousy packing style to give you some crushed seeds to experiment with! You would have to let me know if they happen to arrive uncrushed, and Iāll send more until some arrive demolished as promised. (If I knew much about using those yellow smiley face things I would put one right here).
Seriously though, @Moka didnāt you report receiving a damaged seed in which the cotyledonās were visible, and it took right off when you put it in soil?
Iāll bet a naked little coty might grow, but I imagine there is some value for the plant in the act of breaking through the shell having to do with acclimating to the practice of marshaling its vital forces, or some such thing.
I appreciate the offer, but there is some around here somewhere - I teach, and used to do some exterior painting/pressure washing in the summers and would stick signs in customersās front lawns that were made of the stuff.
Youāre welcome, @Vesti ! Yeah, mine are just sitting here not doing any work of any kind so I thought Iād offer it up.
as for theā¦
I grabbed them and saved them as files (thanks to advice from OGār here) from another Canna site (tips hat to that site!). I am on a PC, not a portable device.
Looky, looky, what i got in the mail today. Iām thinking @nefrella really is crazy cat lady lots of kitty pics. Thank you @nefrella, and @corey and everyone else involved.
@nefrella is very generous. So are you and everyone involved. If I remember correctly those bubblegum seeds should be bigger than normal, but do make some nice stocky plants
Gosh they were werenāt they? I asked Mark about it and all he said was that it was the 7th generation and just grew like that. They take a little longer to germ but make some solid plants
