  1. 77°F is considered the germination temperature for seeds. Jorge Cervantes provides a range of 70°F–90°F (21°C–32°C) as his interpretation of the best range of a germination temperature for cannabis seeds, and others have differing opinions as to the range, but most suggested ranges include 77°F as the central locus of germination activity.

  2. If your temps are below 68°F it would be beneficial to use a heat mat but NO, you do not need one per-se: you can place your seeds near a heat source or in a warm room instead of using a heat mat.

  3. A heat mat can be used for seeds, clones, to help keep a pet warm during cold spells, or to comfort a strained back by using as a back warmer.
