Answer 2: I think some people may need a heat mat for winter but I do not,my place is warm enough spank you very much.

- I personally have not seen a difference with using a heat pad, so I do not use one.

I would agree with you, I pop seeds here in San Francisco without a mat at 50-60°F and always get beautiful plants without popping issues unless the seeds are bad.
