I feel it too…just needed a long prolouge…
Well that was a disappointing read from both perspectives. Bunch of closed minded people here.
why? because peeps disagree, are stubborn, and stick to their guns.
this is what makes humans great! peeps doing the same thing, a thousand different ways. and most all succeeding. 'cept @ShiskaberrySavior , hope you get those seed nightmares sorted, pulling for you!
being a little opinionated shouldnt be seen as a negative. if we all agreed all the time things would become intolerable pretty quick. embrace the dissention, live in the moment, and respect all who speak.
I sometimes soak seeds and sometimes i put them straight into the pot, it depends on a few factors, there’s pros and cons with both.
With plenty space in my clone tent it doesn’t matter if there’s non starters but with limited space they’re a pain, it’s good to know how quickly they sprout and how many I’m working with.
I can also get seeds started when i don’t have time to prepare the medium, pots etc.
It was the lack of respect that caught my attention. That is not what being human is all about.
Yikes.
For many years I have seen almost all forum discussions of seed germination degenerate into silly bickering over which technique is truly the “best”, and then, inevitably degrades even further into pointless name calling.
Obviously there are many ways to achieve the desired popping, from which robust, healthy seedlings begin their journey to full productive flowering.
The beauty of this hobby is feeling comfortable with whatever procedure archives the desired results time after time. If you enjoy the process and get a satisfactory germ rate, that’s really all that matters.
To me, this is akin to arguing over who has the best meatloaf recipe. It’s a moot conversation.
Just do whatever you think is best for your own plants.
A-men!!!
This summarizes hundreds maybe thousands of posts
Be careful they’ll make you a moderator
This deserves its own thread.
But yeah, let’s fight about nothing sounds fun.
For the record. I was just screwing around with my comment. If there’s one thing you can take to the bank, it’s the fact that there are a thousand different ways to accomplish the same thing. No one is right and no one is wrong. Sorry if I ruffled any tail feathers.
no no no NO!!! my friend there are 1000 and ONE! just thought id try and rile up the crowd
Jorge is an hero to many and that autographed book is cool!
Calling someone else here shit fer brains is not!
Smoke a bowl?
Nah I think the main problem is the person that came in here and demanded his way was the only way. It was too reminiscent of other forums that people left to join this family. I personally don’t think it was you they were talking about.
I’ve had a 100% popping count for the last 3 grows and this current popping session has me only seeing 2 plants for the 6 seeds started. All done the same way as the 100% germ rate sessions and the same temps/medium etc.
Shit just happens as not every seed can be a winner

myself i just some times crush them up saves time for when i kill them eventually
Good call!
There’s no point in going thru the BS, if they are gonna die anyways, right? Way to save some time, brother!
exactly time electricity nutes water stress
Age and experience and tons of horticultural classes and certifications has a lot to do with why some of us are stuck in how and why we do what we do…guilty as charged. It’s called “the school of hard knocks” LOL. I’ve been gardening since the 60’s and about tried it all on every kind of plant material including many varieties of turf, trees, landscaping materials, Xmas tree op and a vineyard featuring the finest vinifera clones you can get. And of course cannabis. Mastering sativas has been my specialty, growing stuff indoors under lights like Dalat Vietnamese or Zamal from La Reunion. If I recommend something, it’s because it works under most conditions and is practical.
There are WAY too many myths, rocket fuels, and hype in cannabis forums for my liking.
I’ve done many an experiment (and published those findings) on seed germination. My own crosses are still viable after 20 years of storage.
DougDawson, since I’ve been such a PITA I’ll share some of my backcrosses of C99. They are stable per the original backcrossing method used by the Bros called “cubing”. I have the original from many years ago bought directly from the Brother’s Grimm via the owner of Heaven’s Stairway - Ron, a internet friend and provider of mine. Just PM your addy and I’ll fix you up with a discreet, padded envelope.
2020 - All 5 seeds popped. One was male so I did some backcrossing to the 4 ladies. ALL of the plants were so stable no one would be able to distinguish them from clones. High is fine and typical of C99 there’s that flavor of bubblegum or Fruit Loops cereal on your palate. I hit in a Bob Marley bubbler with a perculator.
Unfortunately they got a bad case of spider mites late in the blooming phase. I’ve been fighting those bastards forever. FWIW Forbid 4F is an excellent mite/whitefly pesticide, and no, it’s isn’t a poison. I just got lazy and didn’t use it, or blast the bastards with water, another good mite control.
As usual, my root systems are very fibrous based on the root tip pruning systems I use. I will use MicroKote this time.

I have a lot of friends on the farm.

Respectfully disagree. It’s a matter of tweeks and there is a right way and a wrong way. I wish I could count the ways I’ve seen folks screw up plant material whether it be cannabis or grapes. Case in point, I do A LOT of grafting and get takes on avocado, mango, annona (cherimoya), and citrus. You either do it right when the conditions are right, or it aint gonna happen. Same with cannabis.
Some folks just keep on failing, they just don’t get it.
Folks need to learn to read their plants and learn what makes a plant tick.
Ugh. It’s been a while, but I guess this is what the ignore button is for.
People keep giving chances, other people proving they didn’t deserve them.
