Space heater safety question

Pretty much explained my flower tent at the moment to a tee haha

The floor being uninsulated is definitely a big part of the problem. The other part of the problem is that the soil is too heavy to move, and the tent is only accessible from one side… so shimmying stuff under it would be pretty hard. Wish I had thought about it when I set the tent up to begin with- I could built a riser or at least slapped down some big ass styrofoam pieces or something.

Be very careful with those space heaters.
I know a few people who have lost everything they owned because of them.
The safety features don’t always work.

I use the AC Infinity Thermaforge T3. The unit stays outside the tent, and it has tubing you route inside. It has a temp sensor as well and works on a thermostat.

I got mine from Amazon. I have mine set at 72 deg. F. and it works great in my 4x4 tent so far.

I’ve ran a small ceramic heater inside my tent for a couple years. Never had any issues (I run elevated trays so heater is underneath so nothing blowing on plants).

Having said that, I wouldn’t recommend and I never felt comfortable. I purchased one of the ACInfinity heaters, it’s still in box awaiting winter.

Ps. I have a fire suppression system above my tent.

I was just looking up panel heaters earlier today and saw these tube heaters mentioned elsewhere on OG.

Panel heaters are also called “coop heaters” or “radiant wall heaters”, and they’re generally considered safer than some of the other space heater styles. The coop heaters are like 200w and up, so they’re not too crazy for power usage.

I’m debating between the two styles if I end up adding heat to my tent.

The bar style I have is like 60watts I would recommend a bigger one our winter just been was having trouble staying above 12c so about 52f even with that running in a 4x4

This is how I make my space heater safe for my barn cats in my hayshed.
I use a piece of duct that the heater fits in. I put screen on both ends. I put the heater in the duct behind the screen so they can’t get at it and it’s safe if it shorts out or anything else. I put a fan on low to blow the heat out.
They gather in front of it or go in their thermal shelter.
Same thing would make it safe for your grow tent.

I did not read all the other replies but you can fill empty milk jugs with hot water and put them next to your plants and they will stay warm for hours. When they cool down just fill them with hot water again.

Who drank my space heater?

Seriously though 12c is pretty cold.

I think it was mentioned but turning the exhaust way down to keep the heat in might be a good idea. No sense generating it just to remove it immediately. RH might be ok with such a chill in the air. Fans for air movement but not extraction might help too.

An inkbird makes good sense too. But would you put it on the heater or the fan? I dunno.

Many options but it’s hard to say what would be the best for your space.

Check out an oil filled radiator heater.

I use little heaters with inkbirds. If I don’t, I get powdery mildew 100% of the time because of low night time temps. Anyone with cold nights not getting powdery mildew? I swear a week or two of cold nights and it shows up, even in winter when its not been around for months. Every time. With the heaters, it’s never an issue.

My plants do stretch to much. I have thought about using two heaters, one set to 75 on an inkbird, and one set at 83 on an inkbird AND a timer so that one only runs during lights on.

Iv never seen p.m in my life and constantly cold winter night tempts even with having lights off in the day only just got to summer now so temps are back good

If you’ve never seen it, maybe its not an issue in your area? There must be at least some spores around for it to appear. Never get it outside either? It grows on weeds everywhere around here in the mid/late summer, so might be a different situation.

Also I rarely use tents, so maybe sealing things better would help. I feel like I shouldn’t be talking about this, or joecrowe is gonna come yell at me for not exterminating it from my county. hahaha
