Crazy and good to see old shroomery vendors still in business after all these years. I remember in the early 00s shroomery vendor ralphster had one of Terence Mckennas “strains” of cubes which ended up being named after his company “syzygy”.
When Shroom pioneer Terrance McKenna first opened his online store, many years ago, the name of the site was Sysygy… it carried one type of un-named cubensis, This One… hence the name. We were able to collect a few of the original Sysygy prints (over 15 yrs old) and successfully revive the strain thanks to a few, expert (or just Really lucky) trusted growers.The original, or actual name or geographic location origins remain a mystery now, as they did then. But… They are McKenna originals.
Always was very tempted by the Agaricus bisporus/Agaricus bitorquis cultures that Sporeworks used to sell but never wanted to commit to the level of sterility required. Seems like the amount of their edible varieties have substantially declined now unfortunately. They’ve been around forever though and have always had very positive feedback.

Yeah, they have a real low tolerance for newbies over there. I don’t think I’ve even posted there, out of fear for asking something that’s already been asked 100 times and getting ridiculed… But that’s the nature of forums I guess. The info is there, just takes a lot of time to distill the good info.
Yeah this is a good idea for sure… you’ll be wondering what the fuck a SAB is and Agar and all this shit before too long… I think there’s actually a post at shroomery that goes over all the terms, I’ll see if I can dig it up.
I’ll throw in my recommendation too, It was the first vendor I used and they’re still kickin’! Sonoran Spores is also another good one.
Awesome! thanks for that little bit of history! Very cool to see all of the different cube strains that have developed now… almost like cannabis lines. I know there is one named after McKenna, the Mckennaii strain… I wonder if it’s an evolution of those Syzygy prints? The Penis Envy Uncut have been the strongest that I’ve grown personally, where anywhere from .5 to 1.0g can absolutely rock your world.
Yeah, I think a lot of people (myself included) don’t have the necessary equipment/lab to produce those edible cultures consistently and keep them clean. The sort of halfway in-between method is to buy already cultured spawn bags of your favorite variety and use those spawn bags to create other bags for fruiting. That way you can keep the spawn bag in the fridge for awhile and use it as an inoculant for the sterile bags you create in the pressure cooker. Still a lot of work. Mushroom Mountain (Trad Cotter) in SC is a good place for spawn bags if you’re in the SE USA.

T-1000 - A selection of Old Family Purple - Clone
I picked up this clone from Archive in Portland. She’s a pretty quick finisher, I’d say she could be done in under 65 days, she turns out a little better if you run her to 70 or longer. While growing, it reeked of sweet magnolias and funk, but now that she’s all cured up, it’s gunpowder, grapes, and gas. I wish she held on to the funk smell a little bit more, that’s one downside to her. I’ve dried her twice now and she’s lost that deep deep funk both times, and I know my drying was on point, because all the other herb came out real funky. She’s definitely better after being in the jars a good a while, seeming to continue to get better with age. The gas and funk is there, you just gotta break up the hard buds to release it. The gunpowder thing is interesting, but thankfully doesn’t translate to the taste, cause that would be little weird. Taste slightly of grapes and mostly really good herb. If I’m smoking it, I like to leave it out in a dispo jar overnight so it dries up real nice, if I’m vaping I’ll prefer it more on the wetter side, straight from the cure jar.
As you can tell from the photos, she’s packed with resin. Now that doesn’t mean shit, but I will say she would probably be a good hash rosin producer, I got a ton of dry sift from the buds. I’m thinking about buying a rosin press soon, so I’ll maybe comeback with feedback after I press some.
The high is a pretty heavy hitter. I didn’t like it at first, when it was fresh. It kinda gave me this scatter-brained high, also it would give me headaches. But now that it’s been dried awhile, it’s much better. I don’t believe in the whole indica/sativa thing, but I’d classify this a chill, listen to music, watch a movie, gorge yourself with pie, type of high. Although I will say, I’m weird and I smoked some this morning to try and give an honest review, and it ended up kind of energizing me… I took all the photos and wrote this stuff, but I definitely feel it in my body too, a subtle but comforting heaviness. Only downside about the high is that I wish it was a little longer lived… hits heavy at first but tapers pretty quick. You can always smoke more, but there’s definitely a ceiling with this one. I’d say it’s a good once a day, chill out, eat something, then sleep, kind of bud. But hey, to each their own, and I would love to hear some other experiences with it…

Was it the legit gg4 or a knockoff, you think? I got really tired of that cut when I trimmed at the dispo, but it was always a money maker since I got paid by the pound. Heavy and super simple trim. A few flicks and a 20g branch was done.

Pretty sure it’s legit, Archive seems to be pretty reputable around here about their clones. They do have their own version, Duct Tape, which they say is better, but some how I doubt it, since they hit GG#4 with Dosidos or something like that. Smell is on point with this cut though, and the nugs looks pretty much exactly like all the other GG#4 I’ve seen. It was a nice easy trim, just flick of the leaves and your done haha, easy peasy… it yielded the best outta last round too, almost 4 half gallon jars

Damn man, that’s a big haul. GG4 yields very heavy, very dense, very stinky buds. Sounds like you pulled down maybe 12oz or more? I can usually fit between 3-5 zips of manicured buds in a 1/2gal jar, depending on density. Was that from a single City Pickers run organic?
I ended up not liking GG4, but I never had it grown organic. Hmmm…

yeah, shit I guess I need to bust out the scale. it’s all persy and to give away, but would be good to keep some notes to compare to future grows. I’d guess 4 zips a jar, they’re about 80 percent full, so maybe 12oz… Yeah, one City Picker, organic, water only

The Silver Lotus is on the back half of flower… looks like there will be a good bit of seeds, but also a little sensi smoke to sample. Smells like berries with astringent backside. More berry-ish.
LP:FS up front and Blueberry on right. Looks like I’ll have a few Blueberry x Silver Lotus beans to play with too, finally seeing successful pollination.
Veg Tent / Clone tent - The DLA5 S1s in the center have a cool look to them, prehistoric looking or something.
