Depending on what that lid is covering… you may not want to open it.

Its been done and is possible but you got to be careful, not just cause it stinks but cause there can be gasses down there.

If you do decide to, have a Replacement cap ready and beside you

I believe thats for the plumbing vent stack? As someone else said those gases can be toxic (and gross). P traps are shaped the way they are to hold water that will prevent the gases from flowing back into your house. If you did use it I would recommend something similar like a water trap or a one way vent that will prevent backflow.

The fan would be hooked up and run NON-stop till I pull the fan and put the cap back on…I think i need to pull that cap and have a look. Its not like the big city here concerning the sewer system. No man hole covers or drains on the street. It could be a closed system and I could possibly vent right to the water treatment plant or do they send it to a lagoon? Fk never know out here…they built the dump beside the river where we get our drinking water. Seriously poop floating down the river in front of the dump…fkn gross i moved out of the city!

I understand a little about sewer…not a pro. It could vent out the vent stack on the house rather than heading to the street. I was looking for someone who perhaps had done it and had experience. That pic of the stack seems like overseas not North America. The vent is to put air behind the water and push it also the gases out the top of the house. More research then…hook it up and see! Then I got experience

Thanks guys

How long have you been at that location? Have you ever had to have a plumber come there to clean tree roots from the sewer line? A friend of mine had an experience where he was venting into the sewer and a tree root blockage caused the water to back up…thus backing up into the flexible ducting and pushing it right off the pipe. Shitwater everywhere.
Long story short…have a plumber come and clear the line (if tree roots are an issue) and do it every year or every other year…or you can buy one and do it yourself…

I wouldn’t.

If your grow is big enough to need to vent outside, just do that. It’s annoying cutting holes and running ducts, but if your grow necessitates it, it necessitates it. The beauty of growing is that if you need something done, it’ll usually pay for itself in short order, unlike any other hobby. If you don’t know HVAC, call a guy. They see grows ALL the time, HVAC guy I was talking to says it’s basically his bread and butter.

If it’s small enough, better to just plug in a dehumidifier and/or an A/C unit than run ducting to outside. If you live in an area where security is a concern, all the better. I live in a legal state and I still wouldn’t want dank grow smells all over my neighborhood, it’s an invitation to get robbed.

Thats my concern also…guess I’m cutting a hole and venting out the back of the house and step on it with Ozone before it leaves the house. I’ll put the ozone in a box of some sort and vent into the box then outside. The box gives it time to mix the ozone with the dankness. I have lots of room to do that…thanks for your direction. My concern is air to the plants…discrete!

Exhaust that has gone through a carbon filter and mixed with ozone will have zero smell, I imagine that should work perfectly. Ozone does have its own unique odor though, you need so little of it to be effective.

I would not recommend using your " clean out ", to vent. That line connects directly to the main sewer line. Your vent stack goes out through the roof. I just tie into my dryer vent with a “y” fitting.
Just my 2 cents, saftey first.

My dryer vents right into the guys next door…so it will need to be scrubbed really well!
