True, I’m currently a member of the “broken human” club (slipped discs, bulging discs, pinched nerves, blah blah), so my handy skills are down to making a sandwich, and a drink 5pm for my partner and I, lol.

Tonight, this is my drink of choice. Straight. They only make it at this time of year and it’s a real treat for my mouth. It’s as close as I have ever tasted relative to my mom’s homemade, which is, of course, the gold standard for me.
Neither me nor Mrs. mota drink alcohol. I was introduced to pot the year before I got drunk for the first (and only) time in my life. It’s not as if I never drank again, I just never got shit faced sloppy drunk again. Thankfully. I remember waking up the morning after, curled around the base of a toilet, my head blowing up, and I said never again. I like weed!
All that said, I did used to make apricot vodka. Takes a minimum of three years to start to get really good, where all you taste is the apricot in a slightly viscous liquid. I liked it over ice cream.

For spirits my #1 overall go to is Wild Turkey 101. Feels like home when I’m away, feels like an adventure when I’m in my kitchen. Just a big time overproof reasonably priced whiskey. Other spirits I very much enjoy:
Jagermeister (sp) - bottle out the freezer, that thick thick medicine. I dont like licorice but I do love Jager.
Mezcal - Had a few varieties, the Del Maguey single source stuff is all fantastic. Expensive but special treat. They take the agave cactus type plant (same thing real tequila made from), smoulder under tarps, then turn that mash into booze. I’m not usually one of those “this type of booze affects me different” types but Mezcal gets me rowdy as hell. Del Maguey’s “Vida” Mezcal blend is a solid budget option.
Bombay Saphire: I don’t frequently drink Gin, but when I drink Gin it’s frequently Bombay. Some of the more exotic stuff is great (Junipero), but it’s hard to count on availability wise. Some of the exotic stuff sucks, most all of the local stuff really sucks. But Bombay is great in a Negroni and you can get it anywhere.
For beer: I love it all. At the crib lately I’ve been stocking the Michelob Ultra Aluminum Pints. Resealable. Game changer. Treat myself to fun stuff all the time, had some Chocolate Stout from Sam Smith a few nights ago and enjoyed it. Went through a huge IPA phase like everyone else, the anti IPA phase, the big sours, etc etc etc - love it all. Love sitting down at a restaurant’s bar, ordering to go food, and drinking two beers. What a joy.
Wine: LAME. Wine is lame, wine culture is lame, and wine people are LAME! 
Slight hyperbole, and sometimes I do enjoy a glass of expensive red wine from a bottle someone else orders, but my god is wine overrated. Come to think of it, wine might be the most overrated thing in human history. Sure it’ll getcha buzzin so it aint all bad, but compared to beer and pot and coca cola and hamburgers wine might as well be fuckin celery!
