What's your preferred light schedule for clones/seedlings/germinating?

I veg under T5 Led lights. I use this light with the Dual Spectrum bulb, and then I also use this light with 2 different bulbs. One White 5500k bulb and one Blue 480nm bulb.

Seems to work perfectly for me, but I just got the single T5 fixture and have been testing it out. So far so good.

8x8 room
First thirty, 2 HPS 1000 up high, 36-40 inches, Small blue light close to plants 300w.led.
At thirty days, 2 MH 600 added from top sides at 45 degree angle. Sunlight is achieved.
at full flower after lollipopping and final scrog set, everything is above at 36 inches, 90 degree angle.
Boom
I alway’s have adults in room, hence always 2 HPS on.

Hey @bunny thanks for your comment!

So you veg photoperiods under 24/7 light schedule? Do you pay particular attention to PAR/PPFD values to keep your lights/heights dialed in?

I’d say so :joy:

So you were previously only using the dual bulb fixture on its own?

Did you notice any boost in production after adding the additional spectrum and watts of the single T5 fixture?

Just learned by burning a few plants with them being too close. That also might have happened when the humidity was low in the house, do not remember much about it.

Just keeping things simple for now, might timer them when I get a better setup.

Just haven’t ever seen much or if any extra growth that means anything going 24 or 20/4, especially those first weeks.

Nope… Started out with the dual fixture light and it’s never let me down. The dual fixture equates to 36W (2 x 18W) or a 72W growing equivalent. I used to remember what that means exactly when I was doing grow light research but that was 3 yrs ago and it’s faded in my mind. The single fixture is 24W (48W growing equivalent).

I’ll use anything for clones they don’t need much. I’ve currently got a 4-7watt led above my bubble cloner, and a 24” sunblaster led above my larger aero cloner.

Any small light 24/7 for clones. I prefer 5000-6500k but have successfully used 3500-2700k too
I’d honestly be happy if my clones were 100-250 PPFD but I haven’t used my apogee metre to check what they’re actually at

@Pawsfodocaws just for my own sanity, do you also consider them “seedlings” for the first week, or is there another standard growers more appropriately go by (e.g., sets of true leaves, nodes, exc.)

Apogee, nice!

Yeah trying to dial in PPFD with lux conversions is leaving too much room for error for my liking.

I germ then plant and put under a 24 hour t5. From when they are tiny until uppot into 3 gallon bags… I consider them seedlings until the have 2 sets of leaves. I let them get as a big as they can in my humid dome seedling starter then once too big I uppot them. So I’d say I consider them seedlings for the first two weeks,… some develop faster @Rickle_Piiiiick , hope this helps.

My seedlings ready for a bigger set of shoes. Not that I will treat them any differently. Well, maybe a little breeze to bulk up the stalks.

I do 18/6 for clones, and veg.
Although I’ve done 24 on for both.
12/12 for flower

It does!

I guess now that I think of it, it’s more of a relative term anyway.

I use it to guide my nutrient supplementing schedule because with hydro that’s where my attention is focused; increasing the supply of nutrients. If I were growing in soil, my focus would equally be on increasing the quantity, but probably rather in the form of nutrient availability i.e., soil.

Also on another note, once potted I 12/12 them from then on to maximize rotation. I try to weed out the males. If doing fems I’ll 24 them for a month and grow some 6 footers…I like to 12/12 regs…im all soil…

Nice, I imagine that contains the stretching quite a bit.

That’s how I’ll be running my perpetual grow here soon; mom’s ->cuttings/clones->2 weeks to root in cloner->straight into 12/12 to flower.

With a solid 8 week strain, my goal is harvest 2 nice single cola plants (SoG) every 4 weeks. As long as the yield is in the 10-20gram average range each, Ill be happy.

For some reason I hardly get stretching, I have a 7 foot tent with two 600 watt hps in it, and they grow fine and stay under without training or scrog. I just put heavy wind on them with a few box fans and toughen em up, sometimes I will have to tie buds if they get too big and start leaning. To think of it my stretch comes from waiting a month then flipping.
