Yeah this, if you got seeds in one of these containers, that means Sebring had to pack them and make the labels himself…
if people really want to support sebring they will order some merch and comfort cream. Actually, being able to buy that comfort cream is a privilege - it is amazing medicine
That piece seems like one of the hidden details, that prob takes a bunch of time and energy. Designing individual labels, printing stickers, sourcing containers, almost like that alone could be someone’s job…
I like this idea
This right here would help distributors out IMMENSELY I believe. I’ve only packaged a few hundred seeds, not the thousands that distributors do. Packing a few hundred is a job on itself, packing a few thousand is a FULL time job.
If the breeder packages their own, at least that takes one more thing off the distributors plate. But then that leaves the cost of packing materials on the breeder, when it wasn’t before, so some sort of compensation for that for them might grease those wheels. At least reimbursement, not talking profit, but not having to pay for packaging materials for seeds (that members are “paying for” when they checkout).
Just trying to figure out a way to make everybody happy, the people running the seeds, the people distributing them, and the people planting them. Distributing some of the work load will help that a little.
I would be the first to guess that the sheer workload of such a task isn’t helping Sebring with his own personal issues, if anything, I think it would crush most people into submission. And I can say after dealing with depression myself, that if I was in his position, the more people tagged me and the more messages I got, if I was in that hole, well, it just pushes me further down the downward spiral and I know I would retract into my own little world more and more. Thats undue pressure on poor Sebring, for doing a voluntary job. A little understanding would help him I am sure. And yes, its easy for me to say as I received my fall box, but even if I didn’t. Its just seeds guys, and only a small amount of money being “tied up”, not even disappearing… Tell me, are those seeds worth more than a valued members health and state of mind? And he’s even reached out and shared more about his situation than MANY individuals would do, so lets try to figure things out in a way that we all benefit and can be happy with.
Lightening the workload of a distributor packing seeds seems like a logical first step…
There’s a way to help Sebring and split between members all the task. Dividing the US and Canada in various zones, as it has been pointed out, but instead breeders sending directly to all distributors (would imply time consuming and costs), they send in bulk to Sebring’s HUB. Then he just divide them accordingly and send them in bulk to each distributor.
Distributors would have to put them in coin flips or whatever and post them individually. The more distributors we have, less would be this task for them. Payments would be through Sebring’s site, then each distributor would recover from him all what has been spent in stamps and shipping costs.
Keeping all this for just the TL3 would decrease members involved and work to be done, if you check the early days Co-op’s you will see that it was easier to handle as there were less than 100 members to distribute, right now there are 155 regulars, easy peasy, becoming a Regular would be something more gratifying and significant than nowadays …
And that doesn’t include emeritus status for those who got TL3 and dropped to TL2. So the number eligible as a “TL3” is actually more than 155 I believe.
Zone distributors within a region seems to be another good way to distribute the workload… Its possible the distributor could send seeds and bulk packaging as well, again, eliminating the transfer of funds between individuals. We definitely want to steer clear of money changing hands as much as possible, if we’ve learned anything in the past!
Breeders could even help simplify things by sending bulk packs, in certain quantities (ie. 100, 250 or 500 seeds per bag). That way the Regional distributor only has to send 250 to the NE, 100 to the south, 300 to the midwest, and they just grab a bag, and not have to STILL count out the seeds per zone. Could even do a weighted average instead of an actual count for Region>Zone, with any extras being counted by the zone distributor and sent out to box recipients as freebies like extras in the past have been.
i took @George to mean those who maintain actual TL3 status and not those who achieved TL3 and then fell back down to TL2.
I thought that was the whole point of the emeritus status though?? Keeping them eligible for seed runs even if they no longer can access the private lounge
Sounds good but I’m afraid that would not be possible, as TL2 wouldn’t see what’s cooking “upstairs”, to make an omelette you must break the eggs first …
Sorry, wanted to reply to @Nagel420, when trying to edit it a script told me it was too similar to what I have posted , too stoned to fight with a machine , my idea as you say is on sale, just found out it was a good way to help Sebring without having to change many things …
I realize TL2 wouldn’t see in the private lounge. But my understanding of the emeritus status was members who slipped from TL3 could still get in on certain seed runs. Like the whole reason for creating emeritus was to deal with that? (I am not emeritus, still a regular), but thats kinda what I Thought emeritus was for?
Unless you’re saying only those who maintain TL3 can get in? What if they were TL3 when signing up for a run, but slipped during the course of the run?
If you were regular while signing in and then lose your status, the “emeritus” effect could be applied and receive the seeds anyway …
Does emeritus still get you into smokers lounge ? If not , it really should
Does anyone have that answer?
Being in an illegal place I would love my topic to be in smokers lounge but what’s the point if I lose tl3 status and can’t get back onto my own topic
He has always out when I have tried. I just pop in and check when I think of it.
It would for sure. Just check the status of the people doing the seed runs. I doubt TL2 people will do the work for those sitting in the TL3 lounge and making plans for their seeds.
Yes, same here - it is a rare item that you need to grab when you can. His site says he has some in stock now, I think he is pretty good about updating his site as far as his inventory goes
https://diygreenlife.com/product-category/self-care/
His site says he sells all merch at cost, so buying it from him doesn’t really support him other than spreading his name around. His self-care cream with the DMSO, especially the max strength, would be hard to reproduce for the cost that he sells it for, so I doubt he is making much on that either.
I don’t think it would be fair to go by Trust Levels.
There are many here, myself included, That lost the TL3 status for something or other. Are you saying that if a person has been around for over a year and gets spanked for some minor deal, he should not be able to participate? until he becomes TL3 again? I don’t know about others, but I was knocked down to BASIC and took quite a while just to get back to Member, let alone regular. Somehow don’t seem fair.
