Harvested the uglier of the two pumpkins to enter at the county fair. The pretty one is going to continue to grow.
It’s deliberately deceptive, that’s a child’s chair. Not a normal size one. Gotta make it look bigger, although it’s no slouch probably 50lbs. Long way to go to break the records here, but can’t play without entering.

Just got back from delivering the pumpkin to the fair. The ladies were giving me static because I asked if I could pull around back to drop it saying “we were going to make fun of you if you walked in with a little pumpkin”
Unfortunately, I think this will only be a second-place finish. There’s another contender that was prettier but similar size. We’ll see, I’ll find out this evening. Luckily they have funnel cakes, ribbon fries and chicken on a stick so at least we’ve got that going for us. Smoke me some Hawaiian Snow and head back this afternoon
They should allow buds in the fair. And at the farmer’s market.
Should have entered the pretty one…next year this is going to get crazy I’m already considering a swamp cooled hoop house. It’s possible this may get out of hand. Probable even. Not that I’m competitive or anything, certainly not

Your comment about ease of working overhead made the trimming much easier. Started at the bottom, worked on the undersides first and it made it much faster ! Snip snip snip snip

Bahia Blackhead?
I was actually just browsing KC Brains and looked at the Bahia Blackhead. Back in the early 2000s I was looking at KC Brains and Nirvana seed stock because that was all my broke ass could afford ($20 packs I think back when Gypsy Nirvana was the global seed distributor). Was entertaining ordering some Cyber Cristal, Blue Mystic or K2 because those were the ones I lusted after in high school. I had the webpages printed out and I’d read them over and over again on the bus going home. Maybe 2024 will be the year I live out my teenage fantasies.
Dreamed of someday being able to grow Sagamartha, Soma, Serious, Paradise, Sensi but those were $100 packs and just unobtainable at the time. Nowadays those don’t have the appeal they once did. But the KC Brains/Nirvana, there’s a special desire still there for those.
Didn’t have a real, successful grow until local legalization 2 years ago.
