Autopots opinion?

Hello guys,

I saw autopots on the market, could you share your opinions? Is it a good stuff or its nonsense?

Salutations,

If you’re about to live the “legaleezed” days of a “stoner”/“droÿé” on planet Itnoc then there’s a height limit about to be set to 1 meter, so i’d be in favour of something smaller, down to 7.2 L perhaps as that’s what i once tested (below) and its height seemed just about right:

Excess water falls into the base tank while oxygen can be dissolved by water rising into the substrate above it, thanks to capilarity promoted inside 4 hollow legs terminated by an opening at their base. After about 6 weeks the tank water turned red, this was my signal to change water in hope for a more apropriate pH level… So i don’t say simpler is better but i find those 15 liters a bit excessive unless there are no height limits.

Good day, have fun!! :peace:

I have 2,4 meter of height! But I’m asking about this system? Do they water plants correct? And there is no over watering?

Salutations KingTut,

Sorry about that. Well, i had a few YouTube videos and i was pleased to see water tanks progressively emptied to keep a network of bases filled, to some defined height apparently. That alone, the automated network aspect would be worth a link or 2 i believe…

In any case the air layer systems should prove compatible IMO.

Good day, have fun!!

This is going to work. It’s got an overflow valve and it only waters lightly BUT . IF THE TUBe comes out ur screwed. Swoosh water flood. But don’t fill too high cos water get bad if nutes used as hydro or if only water for soil than PERFECT WITH COCO FIBRE

Ps I have one it’s good for organic but takes too much room too heavy not for nutrients just h2o and EXPENSIVE get bubble buckets

So it’s an automated hempy bucket system? It does seem legitimate, but like illmatik said, it’s really expensive for no apparent reason.

For a comparable price, you should check out octopots, and an ebb n flow system.

The former is a 5gal/20l smart pot with a net pot in the bottom, wicking moisture from a 6gal/25l res in the base. The latter is effectively the same system as these “autopots” but a control box pumps the water in and out on a schedule.
You could even make your own hempy buckets for under ten bucks a piece and automate the waterings for fifty bucks, easy.

Let us know what you end up deciding

Sorry, my bad. I wanted to ask about this type of systems, not specific one  So you saying that octopods are good thing? There is no over watering?but I think there is problem if I want to water plants with nuts on every second time not every time?

No sorry necessary, I’m terrible at explaining things some times.
From my perspective, the autopots are normal square plastic pots, with a 20mm reservoir of your preferred liquid underneath, automatically refilling when the plant uses it up.

Octopots are a similar system, with a fabric pot and a reservoir of your preferred liquid underneath each pot. If you had a large reservoir attached to the lot they would be effectively identical to autopots, just a larger fabric pot and larger res.

The ebb n flow is admittedly a bit different, but if we intend to fill the autopots with a hydroponic medium like hygroton, perlite, and the like, the difference would be the waterings are mechanically controlled by you, instead of automatically by the plants.

The bottom watering method works because some roots will absorb water and others will absorb the air, like a tree on a rivers edge. The science is sound. The problem is their profit margin. Their cheapest system is still ÂŁ19 each pot.

how difficult would it be to DIY some autopots? I prefer DIY method for everything as much savings, but i think wouldn’t the liquid get too warm ? my tent is 85-90 degrees inside
