If you are an amateur grower , wanting to grow just enough to keep yourself stocked perpetually without surplus, then this kind of setup might be right for you and your pocket.
I converted a steel cabinet (1.5 feet width x 3 feet length x 6 feet height ) by removing all shelves and painting the inside a bright white (No mylar).
A 300 watt LED light and an Inkbird Inline Duct Exhaust Fan IVC-001W with a Carbon filter hang from a valet rod at the top.
A kitchen intake fan at the bottom draws in air while a cheap desk fan fixed on the opposite wall takes care of circulation.
A small Chinese 2 litre humidifier, controlled by an Elitech Humidity/Temperature controller supplies the required humidity.
I have also fixed a 20 watt LED strip on one side and another 20 watt LED gooseneck desk LED lamp on the other side to illuminate the underside of my plants (still get popcorn buds though).
A wireless camera connected to the internet allows me to admire my girls remotely😃
All this for under 1000 dollars !
Just enough for three five gallon fabric growbags .
At present, I am growing a UK cheese, a Purple Haze and an Amnesia Haze.
This is my third grow, all autoflowers. I know about the wiring..plan to do something about it soon. A plastic flood tray is a good suggestion considering that it’s a metal cabinet and prone to rust:+1: Thanx man
VERY cool . I love these home DIY cabinet conversions, yours looks super clean overall.
My opinion on the under-lighting, similar to the above-lighting it needs to be fairly close to the plant & more intense than just 20 watts, my opinion the small lights you’re using are giving the overall space great visual clarity but as you’re noticing, probably aren’t impacting your end yield at all. The strip lights look super cool, though
You are absolutely right the LED strip is basically serving no purpose except for giving the cabinet a cool look I don’t know why they sell it as grow lights online
You could probably maintain a mother plant or pop seeds with them, but a 20watt light would literally have to be laying on top of the seedling or plant to do anything
