Can I fix this grow tent zipper?

The zipper gets stuck where these teeth are messed up.

I really like this tent and would like to fix it if possible…

I googled a few videos on fixing zippers but couldn’t find anything like this.

I’ve seen some how to’s on fixing crooked teeth, but it looks like a whole section of teeth might need to be adjusted maybe by sewing? I’m not 100% clear on what’s wrong.

Maybe readjust and use a top quality super glue?

Or sew back in place then add super glue for extra security?

All I can say is when ever I’ve had a clothing zipper go like that I had to replace the whole zipper . Hope that’s not the case for your tent .

If it can’t be fixed… depending on location I’d try and get 1 zipper above one below… then cut that section out and attach a velcro flap… but thats like last ditch attempt

Dude that was a brilliant idea…

For now that’s sort of what I’m doing. I taped over the busted teeth, and used a big piece of tape on the top zipper to block any light from getting in/out.

I got the tent from growershouse.com and I’ve had great experience with them. This tent is about 2 weeks shy of being a year old so I’m going to see if they will replace it since it’s their in house brand.

In the meantime this will work fine👍

If you want to try to spend some time, take some kind of pick like a dab metal one and carefully try to move the teeth back to their original spacing and position. If you can get them where the pull will go over them again to form the zipper then you could try a bit of crazy glue to keep them in that position and be careful when you zipper over it. It looks like it should go back and doesn’t look like any of the threads are severed yet so I think it’s still possibly repairable.
Good luck

Just fixed the same issue myself. A bit of glue, tweezer time, and patience. Then made sure to lubricate that area with wax, to prevent any hard pulling. Then I waxed the entire zipper a bit to aid in opening and closing. Im pulling a severe vacuum in this tent, due to smell. The wax helps overcome the pressure on the zipper.

What kind of wax did you use after the fix?

I was tempted to use the woman’s crafting beeswax, should work. Instead, I used a “lipstick” type product meant to lubricate bow strings for hunting. Costs me $5-10 usd at the local shop? Using it on all my zippers after this, no binding or build up. With lite use.

Another option if they don’t warranty it is a paint store sells stick on zippers for hoarding in a room your gonna spray . My son who’s a painter by trade uses them a lot seem to be a decent quality and reasonably priced maybe 8 bucks . There designed to stick to the heavy Polly giving you a door opening.

Might want to have a look at those if you’ve got a store close by or online I’m sure you’ll find them there.

Is the idea to put the teeth straight as possible and then glue them in place? Or am I missing anything?

Any tips?

Thank you!

I’ve been wanting to ask the same except for the teeth on a scent proof backpack.

Mine were off a tooth from getting stuck, so I just pulled them back into place and put some glue at the base to keep them straightish. I’m gentle with that area of the zipper now. It was more bending and moving of the teeth, and hoping I didn’t break the damned things off.
