Title says it all, can I use deionised water instead of distilled water to make up my sts ?. Finding reasonably priced distilled is quite hard at the moment in my area but deionised is readily available .

I probably wouldn’t. De ionized water is like a magnet, and will aggressively pull ions out of the two components. It is also an oxidizer which could effectively neutralize the silver nitrate.
I don’t know this for sure but know a little bit about de-ionized water. My recipe calls for the use of distilled water which probably is not as aggressive as De-ionized.

Local water is very soft, 25ppm , so maybe this will be better
