Chopping/trimming technique

So I wanted to share my method of chopping a plant.:dash::grin: Im no pro by any means but I’ve picked up a few tips of my own while perusing these forums over the years.
Not much to it but I’ve seen alots of clips, clamps, clothes pegs and such so being a cheap I mean thrifty fellow I came across this method somewhere over the last 15 years of experimenting. I can’t take credit but I don’t know who to give credit to lol  but I don’t mind sharing.

So you just start at the top somewhere you will get a feel and your own preference for where you do this. I usually start so the next branch is starting to get big.

So now you have a built in hanging hook on each branch

And only need some sort of line to hang your buds on like the bottom of [this] post(My Perpetual Education 🤣 - #371 by Canofbusjoe)

I take it you hang your plants to dry,use paper bags myself
Hanging them in the cupboard stinks the place out lol

I’m not bright enough to do this on purpose but I do ALWAYS use the little nubs, etc to hang off of, or if I get lucky I end up with one of these.this is pretty sweet actually. Gracias :pray:t2:

I tend to chop them one at a time and than hang in a tent to dry with some carbon filtering and climate/RH control. Chop one plant, hang, trim and move on. Sometimes I hang the whole plant as well, depends on if I am wet or dry trimming. I use binder clips to holds them to hangers  Also depends on the time of the year. If I am about to shut down for the summer I can use my 4x4 or 5x5 for drying so much more space but otherwise it’s the 2x4 drying tent.

Well that’s just the chopping process drying is a whole other process The humidity in my house is only 30% RH. So I dry them hanging in this box for about 3 to 4 days then into paper bags then into jars.

In the winter months I have the same issue. If you look at this pic you can see a bowl in the bottom of the tent. I fill that bowl with water and put a towel half in the bowl with the rest lying across the floor and a fan blowing over it. It raises my RH to a good spot and you just have to keep the water filled in the bowl. The towel will keep wicking it up.

I used to do the exact same thing only I’d have the towel right over my fan in my veg tent. :+1: Don’t have room for a separate drying space really I could see left the box I’m using I put a dehumidifier in thinking after it was full of buds I would need to pull the moisture out somehow :joy: that work good in the old crawl space but now in the house with only 30% RH almost needed humidifier in there I’m okay if it’s working out we adapt

I try and do the same thing. I can usually hang most of the plant without using any clips, pegs etc.

Love the makeshift hooks, that’s what I was taught by some of the older growers around here

Ahhh hmmm!
I never did this on purpose either but it was Always convenient when going to dry the branches and they already had a nook to hook on the rack !

I’ll be chopping more methodically now!

Thanks for sharing your strategy

I feel I should change the wording to “the method I use” instead of “my method”:rofl::rofl:

Hey Doug I used that towel and bowl technique a while back actually remember you helping me out with a humidity problem a while back on another platform …here’s my gratitude to one up the towel/bowl method

Three gallon fabric pot filled with soil soak the heck out of it let it drip dry for a min then put in tent …had it jumping my humidity in a little 2x2 almost 15%
