(Closed) Sour Diesel Seed Run

There are bx4’s out there now and I heard tell of a bx3 re-release, but I’m not up to date or have followed much in the last couple years since these ones dropped

I feel ya there I lucked out and my yard is the same way when I bought the place. Ended up using almost all my compost this year setting up a small pollinator garden in one corner of my backyard. Just to get the dirt loose enough to grow something in.

@Jinglepot i wish I was following this thread in real time, versus how I am now where I pop in every 7-10 days and catch up… Sorry

I also collect pollen in totes over parchment, pretty much the same as you do, and have a bit of hard won experience I wish I had been able to share with you.

First off I make sure to clip EVERY SINGLE leaf off the male colas. Then I lay mine directly on the parchment paper. However, I think suspending them on fishing line may be an improvement, and I will try this next time. As long as I only have the male colas one layer deep, I can pretty much cover the parchment with male colas and not have mold issues. I have also put the male colas in a small mug of water in the tote, like cut flowers, angled so that they are hanging over the parchment, but I only do this when the flowers are not yet ripe, and I really try to avoid it. Most Importantly I always keep the lid open at least a crack! But usually more like an inch or two. Using the totes is really nice as you are able to easily control the humidity by opening the lid more or less. I can envision modifying a tote by cutting ventilation holes that are then covered in tyvek or stuffed with poly fill to allow the tote to be fully sealed, (like a shroom mono-tub) but in my experience the air movement inside the tote is so reduced that the pollen seems to just fall directly onto the parchment. Regardless, I still set the tote up either in the laundry room on the opposite end of the house and several closed doors away from the grow room, or (preferred) outdoors in our covered/ half enclosed car port.

Again I wish I had been able to share this with you in a more timely manner, but going forward this IS an effective method of pollen collection, and I would encourage you to try again!

The buds are now so heavy with seeds they are falling over, I had to do a major tie up with they always classy binder twine.

I finished tying up and Holy hell do I ever smell like the most pungent of all diesel smells.

I’m quite amazed at the trichomes I actually am getting as these were grown under a Metal Halide light for the whole duration of their grow.

Thanks guys! I really can’t take too much credit for these ladies. I hardly did anything! I didn’t even ph my water once! Just a scoop (1tbsp) of 20-20-20 in 2.5 gals of water every 3 or 4 days. That’s it. These were some of the lowest maintenance plants I’ve ever grown.

Heater set up on an ink bird thermostat, fan on 24hrs a day on low, 600w MH dialed down to 400w, exhaust fan set to come on for 15 minutes every half hour during the day and every other hour at night.
