(complete) OGer, the Encore

Hey @Gpaw, I’ll add my thanks for doing this, lots of knowledge in this thread.

I’m NOT gonna add my name to the list because I’m a little embarrassed at the bounty of gift seeds I’ve already gotten from generous OG growers. So, a Grouchy moratorium on adding to my seed stash until I can get the grow room back in operation and run a few of the most excellent lines in my locker!

Very Well Done. :star_struck:

Appreciate your efforts @Gpaw!! So is the consensus that this is an OG kush and not bubba x master like originally thought? Either is great just curious

Correct, @Goodgear explained the history and @Barefrog confirmed.
Goodgear also described it as being virtually an IBL and that was exactly the way it grew.
There’s some minor variances in plant and leaf structure but that’s it.
The males and females are perfectly synchronized as they go into flower.

As near as I can figure… As this was initially ‘clone only’ somebody must have crossed in a male of some sort to start this seed line. That is information I haven’t discovered.

What’s really cool to me is that I’m reproducing a strain that is so connected and intertwined with the history of Overgrow.

The story I remember reading is that it’s a S1 of the original Ghost OG clone-only, and someone found a true male in there at roughly 10000:1 odds. That’s where the arguments and egos got started. :stuck_out_tongue: Fairly murky beyond that point.

whoa. thats a pretty legendary tale: a legit male coming from S1’s

Yeah, that is pretty cool, huh? Are any of those guys still alive?

I don’t think anybody has heard of Ghost in many years.
@Barefrog is probably the best guy to ask though.

There is some early history of this mentioned in Seedfinder

It looks like there was more than one cut circulating around OG back then.

Awesome thanks for the clarification! :+1: That’s really cool it’s a consistent IBL - could probably find a nice OG male or two to cross to some of those OG clones!

i was just thinking that, these could be really cool breeding tools

I think so to. My ‘wild card’ is going to be a cross with the Critical +. I think (structure wise) is is going to be good. Hopefully the smoke test will also be great.
I was looking through my seed stash, specifically at Chemdawg and Stardawg crosses as possible crosses… some interesting possibilities…

Thanks! I gotta look for that documentary. I don’t think I’ve seen it. Those were the days…where most big cities had hippy Sundays in the biggest park or at least downtown’ish. I grew up in Birmingham, Al and ours was at Avondale park. Hundreds of people would be there every Sunday, and it was always easy to find about any drug you wanted. Acid was usually big then. Atlanta’s was at Piedmont Park… and on and on… Those were some great memories.

Here’s the home page for the movie. Magic Trip | A Magnolia Pictures Film | Film by Alex Gibney and Alison Ellwood | Own it on DVD or Digital HD

It’s on Amazon Prime, and other places. I was 9 years old when that took place… ha. But, by 16 I had found pot, acid, and countless other drugs, and we carried the trip on through the 70’s along with the explosion of really good bands. peace
