Yeah, we gotta keep making seeds to continue the overgrow. It’s a big world!

Anybody seen @misterbee ?? I’m doing a seed run for him and another member with Space Monkey seeds and didn’t want to make a thread about it until I spoke to him. I contacted him a month or so ago without a response. I just flipped them yesterday. I have 9 total plants without sex totals yet. I’ll know that any day. peace

Awesome explanation @Gpaw
I could easily be titled pollen chucking for dummies lol coz it was that easy understanding the process…
I have read a same exact method someone is using (I don’t know where, it might also be you lol) , that guy uses separate bathroom, uncovers the bag in two hours, spray it and leave it there for a full night…

Hey always, Thanks for the kind words!

Perhaps you read through the Cool Runnings log.
I did the same thing, but I didn’t really provide enough pictures and explanations. I figured I needed a ‘do over’ to make it easier to follow.

I’ve been thinking about other aspects of this pollen storage technique, it should work equally well for feminized pollen too.

Lets say (for purposes of discussion) we can preserve viable pollen for 1 year. You could do 3 back-crosses a year (maybe 4 if you really push it) without dealing with male clones.

There’s several ways to apply this to great advantage…
Just another useful tool in our tool box!

A Quick Update

Lots of pistils browning, I waited a couple days to see what the coverage looked like to decide whether to hit them with more pollen or not.

Pollinating is like painting, if you want it perfect you will need two coats.
In this case, one pass looks pretty good.

If my math works, I’m looking about March 28 for 6 weeks.

Preserving viable pollen over the long term. That’s a conundrum isn’t it? A tested and reliable method to keep viable pollen for a year or more would be a milestone.

You are in a great position to try some “best of breed” experiments @Gpaw!

Go back and check again, I thought my name was missing but I found it on the second try, heh. I haven’t looked but there were a couple of spots left, too. Not sure about now. Good luck. Somebody will help you out. Peace

Edit: yeah, there are more spots open @anonymous4289. Sign up!

Thanks Grouchy!

Right now I’m just shooting for ‘reasonably workable’, but with some help from you folks, I think we can ‘polish it up’ and hit that goal.

This should give us a ‘third leg’ to work with.
(the other two being seeds and clones)

I’m ‘jazzed up’ to get some out through mail as I need to see how well this ‘transports’.
I am going to do long term tests but that will be background work while other folks’ are ‘field testing’. That’s where the magic will happen!

Thanks & Cheers

Thanks so much bro! I was really looking forward to this strain. Looks great!

This is a classic!

This strain goes back to the early days of Overgrow 1.0.
These beans have been passed around, protected and preserved by Overgrow folk for over 20 years.
This strain has been the ‘root stock’ of probably half of the current strain offerings out there.
In keeping with good practice. This lot is 3 females and 2 males in a selective open pollination.

It’s a privilege to run these for the community.
