Ha I’ll give it a shot but if they start growing like crazy I’m blaming you😂
Lol ok I can handle that my ex-wife blames me for everything too so I’m used to it :). Lol
Hello,
Around here I like to compost in two stages until I get a final compost… which would be worm humus!!!
*The first step would be pre-composting, which would be something similar to what the author of the topic presented @TastyCrop *
The idea is to carry out the entire initial process of decomposition of organic matter separately from the earthworms.
Here I use grass clippings, dried leaves and mainly leftover fruits and vegetables collected during the week.
I also add cow manure and bokashi to speed up the process.
I use a water collection drum as a container… there are several tutorials on the internet on how to make a rotating composter, spending very little.
The main idea is to go through the mesophilic and thermophilic phases separately.
The second stage would be when this compound, which already has a pleasant appearance and smell and especially with a stabilized temperature, is added to the earthworm… where the earthworms would finish the process of decomposition of the organic matter and enriching this compound even more.
Here I usually add some bokashi, rock dust and biochar.
Below is a photo of the worm humus ready for use…
Either way as long as it suits you, I am a total beguinner but as weeds grow like chet on my yard I am pleased to have a composting bin where I throw most of the leaves, water once a week and don’t bother about that, have it full and in 2 weeks will be half empty.
Sure I throw all earth worms I gather inside too and never got any bag of worms to the compost and don’t intent to.
But like I said, I am a total noob on composting and as long your process suits you, all right.
When there’s too much N you can also simply mix in a bunch of carbon; saw dust / shavings or shredded paper, that will balance it out again.
Thanks bro, I went back and edited that post my bad sometimes I get in a hurry and forget to write whole paragraphs lol my bad
There’s also the possibility to sprinkle in some commas, full stops and make sentences.
Never be in a hurry, for anything or anyone.
Don’t run to your grave.
Slow down.
Enjoy life.
Smell the flowers, or the compost!
Also dance more.
Most modern municipal water systems use chloramine vs chlorine. Chloramine does not outgas like chlorine. Sitting it out overnight won’t do anything.
Humic acids bind up chloramine well make it inactive you can also use vitamin C I think it’s a 1000mg to 40gal water , I think
Or you can collect rain water to water the compost pile, I do and as it usually takes 1 gal or 5l once a week it is all right to storage that ammount, that is what I have been doing with the compost bin I am using and I have some nice compost already but I still have a lot of room so I am filling the bin up and will only use the compost before plant vegetables on the garden or to enrich used potting soil.
I think that I should be using rainwater to water my indoor plants because as it was well pointed, tap water has microorganisms inhibitors and I don’t know how deep it will conflit with the micro organisms that come with bio nutrients, like biobizz that I use.
But for me that demands another level of storage and filtering plus water rain has no minerals…
[ now that sounds like some old Mother Earth News stuff
