Dimming LED question

I have some meanwell ballasts that I found out recently that im able to dim.

There are two pots. Vo. Adj. And Lo. Adj.

What is the proper procedure for dimming?

Do they both go up simultaneously or so you max one first and then move the other?

My 320H can go up to 390w. Is there a drawback to this besides added heat and electricity increase? Like does it reduce longevity? At a certain point it didnt seem like it was making it brighter yet the wattage kept increasing.

Typically we are running our lights in Constant current mode. That means the power is controlled by the Io Adj. pot. That’s the one you fiddle with!
The Vo adj. pot should be wide open (probably the way you received it).

One of the nice things about the Mean Well drivers is it can actually be separated from the LEDs and mounted externally of the tent or room where you have the LED light.
The drivers are 91 ~93% efficient (I just use 90% when doing calculations) so maybe 30 watts.
Mean Well has a few options in regards to adjustments. The ‘A’ type has the 2 pots available on the body and the ‘B’ type has remote dimming where you can mount a 100K pot somewhere handy. There are also ‘AB’ types that have both features.

Best make a permanent note as to the positions of those pots before adjusting.
Here’s the driver spec.

Thanks

Unfortunately I already fiddled with them be for asking

Will max out vo adj and use lo adj to dim.

My (2) 320w get 390w per maxed out and my (2) 240w get 280w per. Im sure efficiency suffers maxed out. But its winter and getting cold so I need the heat.

LOL yeah, my fav expression is there’s no such thing as waste heat in a Canadian winter…

The drivers are reasonably efficient, at 120VAC you get the best (93%) at 50% load. The efficiency drops to close to 91% at full load (I always just assume 90%). There are some other minor losses as well like copper losses but they tend to be trivial.
