Doing the root pruning thing again, this time with MicroKote

@OldUncleBen how do you think that Microkote would work on some Bonsai Moms?Would there even be need for a 1/3 root trim with that Microkote trimming the root tips?

BTW i took your advice on the Defoliation….Sort of.I still clear some on the Bottom of the trunk for air space over the dirt surface but those are turned into clones anyway so they would have been cut regardless Will do the same for the UBC Chemo when they get going,I Dont take any leaves off and They seem to do a bit better(Romulan grows funny Not too bushy so i dont touch that one grows funny two branches) and not throw any fits so if it aint broke i aint fixing it ill stay on this track so thanks for the help.Hope your Family and Garden are well Many pleasant evenings to you Sir ……. - :billed_cap: -

great thread. some good information in here. thanks for sharing @OldUncleBen

Hey @OldUncleBen . This is a great thread! The information about the alfalfa is very good too. I have alfalfa growing wild along the side of my hay field so this year I will make my own “slop”. I was curious about your old Mexican and Vietnamese seeds. Are they going to be preserved?

They are preserved.

Use horse nuggets, alfalfa cubes.

Good luck!

@OldUncleBen i took our little talk seriously and applied said conversation Knowledge to said Grow and i have to say The MicroKote pot vs the repot that just went into a bigger coated pot for the first time The pot on the left was potted with the Microkote and the rear right was recently the repot. The Microkote pot is shooting explosive growth 360 degrees ive had to do a couple epsom salt foliars on the Romulan on the left she grew so fast and branched so fast.I ordered the baby bottle 8 ounces I think 19.00 $one and ive coated 3 5.5 gallon pots and 3 3 gal and 12 2 gallon nursery pots and i still have 85% of the bottle amazing stretch on this product im really liking what i see thank you for your Knowledge.

I have been trying to tell folks @OldUncleBen knows his shit but his way is too simple and you don’t need 50 bottles of ferts.
He is happy to show you what works in the real world.
He has been tellin’ folks about the Microkote for many years.
Not many listen.
It is an old trick but a good one.
Uncle Ben is the only highly valued member I can think of from my rollitup daze.

Thanks for all you do brother!

Big thanks to you @CapnCannabis for showing us a side by side comparison. :star_struck:

Seems pretty conclusive to me.
For better roots and faster growth get yourself some Microkote. :slightly_smiling_face:

The only real caveat with MicroKote pots is timing the feedings right in the Pots with such massive root balls.Ben is scratching in Osmocote granular for a more extended release of nutes i use Dr earth Dry amendments.I have to have my spidey sense tingling and time the feed by watching the leaves when they get hungry and top dress within a two week time span for the Amendments to Chelate but real nice big plants out of smaller containers common sense on the big plant small pot Watering also more waterings the bigger the plant ,feed timing is crucial.Never seen such thick complex rootballs in my life try ripping one apart with your hands i dare ya.Like Ben says the balls get so thick you have to bounce it off of concrete to get them to bust to get your dirt back.

Can this work in a hydro setup with coco and drippers?
OR in micropot/autopot wicking setups?

Does copper oxychloride (Dicopper chloride trihydroxide) work the same?

Still kickin’, how ya’ll doing?

Did the NOLA Jazz Festival, stayed in a fine B&B with my hot girlfriend. Was a hoot! Nat. WWII museum is not to be missed. Stones played, tickets went within 2 hours of release. Saw great bands, some being no names and guys like Neil Young, Joe Bonamassa, Bonnie Raitt, Earth, Wind and Fire. Headliner Marcia Ball showed up in a small venue at our B&B, played 30’ from our cottage door!. No sleep that night. My favorite performer was Rhiannon Giddens. https://rhiannongiddens.com/

Yeah, greenhouse is keeping me busy. Harvested and gave away 100’s of Meyer lemons, oranges, etc. Put up 4 one gallon bags of Meyer lemon juice, ice cubes and gallons of OJ.

Sprayed the vineyard. Vines are healthy in spite of the rains.

Recently harvested 17.3 oz of cured bud - afghani IBl, C99 C99XPeak19 I did, etc. Got about 12 oz of the old C99 I grew out from a backcross.

Been doing a lot of research on Thai strains. Check out this site. Mandala, a reliable bank also offers Thai thru Ace Seeds. https://www.zomiacollective.com/product-page/dvaravati
