(Edited)Need help buying a veg light

Plus, I will say this. I bought my FC E4800 for my last grow. In a 4x4 tent. I grew big assed buds at 75% power. Way satisfied with that light.
I am testing an SP3000 for them in a 2x4 tent. Seems to be just right for that tent.

219$ is a good deal. With points it might be cheaper. Down below. Is a good light. It has a new board. But the old style works. You need a voltage meter. It’s easy to set. I run it around 380w. I have seen those cheaper. I run a fan on top. Mine is over a year old. It has a back up. SP Marz are great lights. The main ones I use I can’t find.

Thanks for all the help you guys. I’m considering every light mentioned. So hard to choose. What do you guys think about running two t5 4 bulb? Also seen hlg lights have special ones for veg. I think the tsw3000 may be perfect for my needs. Being that I’m not flowering in my tent. Undecided I want them all. Sorry I never replied to everyone I only can go on break every so often

If HLG is in your budget that’s the light you want.

I can afford the 300 watt half blue spec

That would be a great veg light for a 4x4 area @Ronsonmatsuo4

Thinking of the 300 blue hlg

That’s a PAR map that bro. And you’re bang on. What you want. (Or at least what I want) is uniform coverage over the canopy. Which is why I prefer building racks with strips. Get as close to edge to edge as possible.

Yea man that’s what I was thinking of some t5 lights but led to get a nice even cover. Would like to build a light eventually to flower and veg in the future but for now I kinda like the hlg300b. Another option is the mars tsw2000. If my light last three years I’m stoked on it. For 300$ tho I think the hog is a good investment.

If you look on Amazon every few days there are some very good deals. I have one of those lights, never use it. I’ll start with a small light. HLG 4k. That light will last you forever. It has some nice blues. Plus it has a nice footprint for vegging. It will cost you a little bit of money about 160 altogether. You do not have to adjust it just hanging height. They are light deals all the time. You might look one day and then the next stuff is like real cheap. Full spectrum lights are pretty cool. There are several. Some are Cobb style. They’ll have a reddish purple color to the light. Most have a fan on top. They have a grow switch and then a Bloom switch. Those are pretty good lights for a first time grower. There is actually one that is top-of-the-line that is pretty reasonable.

I got one of those growstar bar lights you posted earlier. Inexpensive and more than enough for your current needs. If I remember you want veg only in preparation for flowering outside? I wouldn’t spend $100 on a veg light, but that’s me. I think the Growstar is like $160 save the rest for genetics, good flower light or anything else your grow may need. Name brand light for veg is unnecessary and expensive. Hope this helps
Peace

Just as an aside - my veg light is a fancy overpowered light but I sometimes want to flower in my veg cab too so overkill was good. It does both.

image These are my most used lights. I’m not seeing any for sale anymore not sure what’s going on. Love the lights. I got three on special. The last one I really got cheap. Not sure if they shut down I haven’t tried to reach out to the company at all. I hope you’re making your decision on your lights I’m very curious to see what it is.

I’ve been seeing good reviews on those maxisun also. Huh also sells a cob style. I think I’m leaning on the hlg being that it will last awhile and energy efficiency is great it has a 4x4 footprint and I don’t mind spending three hundred on it. A friend gifted me a t5 ho 4 bulb and a regular t5. It works great for the rack for now. I also forgot to mention my tent is outside against my bedroom wall but it will be shaded so it stays cooler

I grabbed a “GVG” quantumn board style light from amzn…for $38$ and it’s been great for veg in a 3x3.

No dimmer, but feels perfect for the area if left up high. $38$!!! I’m a relative newbie, but from everything I’ve read and heard the biggest issue people have with lights and preflower stage is running them too damn bright! It’s not more light = better, but about simply providing enough light.

Once you got buds goin gotta hit em with more and more light, but for veg I’d go cheap.

Sounds sweet.

Yes indeed. There is definite savings if you just need something to veg with. Hell, I understand a couple screw in bulbs will do in a pinch.
I was merely saying, for me, if I was going to buy a light kit and had enuff money to do so, I would opt for a light that I could go from veg to flower with the same light.
There are tons of options.

Lol. Yep regular household light. Especially if you can get one that’s got a blue housing. I grew a couple like that years ago. Was a kid. I started seeds with a regular light. You can get a small LED light from Home Depot for $20. If you look at the K value you would be surprised what you can get.
