I am not 100% but I vaguely remember the centre piece being called the “stone”. I doubt you can buy them separately as they need to be made to match the chillum. The sides of the stone perfectly match the sides of the tunnel it sits in so that the air is forced down a very narrow channel lined by cold stone. That is what cools it down so much and makes it so smooth. Sometimes there are small grooves that run down the stone too to increase surface area.

Thats super cool. Do you have a link or know how i can purchase one?

I got it on Etsy. The seller was “happywindchime”. He has 3 different designs, all stone, all $25. The color might be slightly different from piece to piece. (diferent designs have totally different colors). Keep in mind the shipping took close to 2 months. The packaging was hilarious, a big ball of bubble wrap covered in really thin brown paper, and then it was all rolled up in tape. Postage stickers falling off of it. It also smelled like foul sewage. The label said he spent $4 on shipping which is probably why it took so long. There are better chillums on etsy but they are ridiculously priced. I’m happy with what I bought.

@Grohio
There’s also “manalicraftshop”, lots of chillums, they might be better but I can’t speak for them.

Do you have any context or story behind this piece? I’d love to find it or a similar one. It really stood out to me, and I’ve been searching around for a similar one, but I can’t really find much by Queso Glass for sale, and what I have seen is… let’s just say it’s out of my price range.

Queso is who taught me how to melt glass. I bought this piece off him when he came up for one of my shows. He no longer blows glass so you won’t be able to find much by him, especially in that style.

That’s a real bummer. That’s a beautiful, unique piece. Unfortunately, knowing it’s so one of a kind would make me way too afraid to ever use it. I know when a lot of people look at that, they see a funny, cool looking block of cheese pipe, but that’s absolutely a work of art. It’s like a dadist/postmodern response to the ridiculousness of cannabis culture while simultaneously criticizing western, consumption culture and the inevitability of the unholy marriage between the two. I could 100% sell that in a detailed, 20 page university level critique/analysis. I fucking love that piece.

I scroll through threads like this almost totally un-phased by all the boring, stereotypical ‘stoner glass’, but the second I saw that, I knew that was made by a very talented artist, not just in technique, but also vision.

It’s a huge shame he’s retired… I appreciate that I was able to see and enjoy it, aesthetically, even if from afar.

Some day when I’m flush I’ll get a unique “art” bubbler. For now I have this one:

That’s really badass @BarefootAndBlazed and actually really well made

It is nice. It fits my hand perfectly and smokes well. I have two “complaints” but it’s nothing serious: I don’t care for the “art” on it - might see if I can remove that at some point, and it’s hard to fully clear. I think the carb isn’t big enough on mine so I usually just cover the hole and puff away, pretending it doesn’t have one.

I love how the website has the disclaimer that it “is not intended for use with tobacco products.

Back in the day, every head shop had big signs, tobacco use only. Only way they could legally sell pipes and bongs.

I had one bong exactly like the rasta one in the middle. I got stuck at the DMV so i went into the shitty smoke shop next door and needed a bong anyway. I don’t have it anymore though, i didn’t really like that one.

My first real glass bong too. It was exactly like that shape, but it was orange and yellow. Named it Sunny. I agree though, despite fond nostalgic memories of it, the bong smoked harsh as hell and would splash water in your mouth.

really funny, I think we all had that same shitty bong as our first piece.

Me and 3 friends had one in blue and purple. It was named Spartacus after an incident in which we snuck into a nearby high school and hotboxed a broken down elevator.

A janitor saw us walking away with smoke pouring out of the elevator, and yelled
“which one of you was getting high in the elevator!”

of course it didn’t matter because we didn’t go to that school, so I turned around and said
“I WAS GETTING HIGH IN THE ELEVATOR!”

and then my friend turned around and said “I was getting high in the elevator!”

and then of course our other friend said “I was getting high in the elevator!”

and then we all just walked away. We thought it was pretty funny, so we named the bong “Spartacus”.
