Probably along shot but has anyone got any info on some old school strains. True Gainesville green, Okeechobee purple, Myakka gold, or Tampa bay crippy, Mycanopy moonbeam. Also I just read about a new strain called Florida keys. Triangle kush is an amazing strain. I’ve had it. Thanks for any info
Hopefully you find some of those! Wouldn’t mind the Crippy and Gainesville myself
Tampa bay Crippy???
I remember doing trips up there because everyone in Tampa/Orlando/Central FL wanted the Miami Crippy. They considered their fake Crippy inferior to the real deal from MIA.
Every time I told someone from CFL I was from Miami the first word they would say is Crippy , Always.
I had a bag of the real Kryptonite from Coco Beach it was unreal neon green almost glowed in the dark and STANK so bad if I walked in a door somewhere the entire room would looking at me within 2 min. It got you frekin rocked to. A+++ weed. I did Shoreline breeders Crippy this year it was really nice I need to dial in how to grow that weird plant.
I dont know where it was coming from lol. I was in SWFL and it was just crippy, hydro, Gainesville green, Alva Christmas bud, Northern Lights and the mango bud that made your mouth water and tasted like you bit into a ripe one straight off the tree. And the ole brick, occasionally with a bonus bird or rat in the middle of one.
Soooooooo rocketboy any chance of you still having this Miami crippy? My brother moved to Florida and that’s all he would talk about was crippy. He had lived in Cocoa Beach and on Merritt Island. He had moved to Orlando when I finally got down there to visit. I brought some purple kush with me but he got me a bag of crippy and it was pretty bad ass. It tasted like grapefruit and wad bright green.
No I lost it years ago. I paid a hefty price for it and now it’s double the cost, which I’m not willing to pay nor do I have cash to throw around.
Thanks you guys. Still looking lol.
Let me know when you find the Old Florida Hashplant
@So-ilgrower let me know if you find any of those strains your looking for. I know there still around, butt… the name has changed and the strains have changed from decades of crossing. Best of Irish luck to you.
I have a few strains that were circulated in south fl. I have a miami or cuban haze selected from old haze seeds and I have honolulu choochoo and cherry trainwreck that used to be grown there and I haven’t really seen them anywhere else. I’ve never traded cuts online but I’d be interested to hear what you have. I’d like to hear about that new fl strain too.
Are these seeds. I’d be interested in seeds of all three if they’re seeds. I’ve never got clones in the mail lol. I have a few sativa dominant stains. G purps, g6, and lemon love. They’re all in seed form
I lived in Florida for 2 years in the early 2000’s. Was sold “crippy” numerous times, and everytime it was one of 3 varieties. Seems to me “crippy” is just street slang and not it’s own thing. I would love to be proven wrong though.
Doc
I would love to get my hands on some Florida OG AKA Crippy.
Yes I have. Smoked it back in the 90`s. I was used to calling it either crippy or cable. Seedsman sells it. However they are currently out of stock. The plant is rather low yielding compared to other strains, but well worth it. Also it loves cal-mag.
Just bought a pack of Florida OG autos.
Yes, I agree. Supposedly there a strain from Florida that was called Kryptonite in the 80’s, and was shortened to Kryppie or Crippy. God only knows if that was a real name, or how much of it was grown.
I think it is interesting that throughout South America it is referred to as Crippy. Google the phrase “Colombia Crippy” or “Cauca marijuana plantations” and you will see articles all about it where “Crippy” is referred to the same way an article in the UK would reference “skunk”.
Skunk, Kush, Crippy, etc. They all became slang for good weed.
Kryptonight and crippy are two different things, the kryptonight crew got busted in 89 the other stuff known as crippy is a generic Latin term used for hybrid cannabis grown down south. Most likely a skunk mango biche or Punto roja cross , prob some of all mixed up in the fields
The FL Kryptonite (from Seattle) aka Krippy/Kryp is the one I had which is definitely a Northern Lights variant. I’ve only started spelling it Crippy with the C for internet purposes, since everyone and their dog was spelling it that way.
The Crippy umbrella didn’t contain any Colombian as far as I know, Crippy was made up of strains from Nevil’s SeedBank, 90’s Sensi Seeds, and 90’s GreenHouse Seeds.
They were seeds but I popped them recently and got 2 females that are each a little different. And the train wreck crosses were seeds a long time ago but have been cuts for at least like 10 years now. So none of them are real clone only cuts but they’re still old plants from fl that were grown by someone else there before the people I know ever got them. I haven’t traded clones online either but as a I start looking for older strains that are mostly considered clone only I have to consider trading. I’m working on making some seed with these now, I have 4 old seeds left and I’m hoping to select a male from them. One of these moms is very interesting and making a kind of old skunky smell, and has trichomes that feel like sand paper down the whole stem and trunk of the plant. And it’s buds are so spindley like a pure sativa yet made up giant puffed calyxs instead of being leafy. I’m excited to try the smoke for sure.
