Forming a Seed run Co-op Action Group

Always down to help with the cause, I’m in az which is one of the more relaxed legal states in the country. Already got side by side seed runs under my belt and been privately getting em out to the community, anything I can continue to contribute then I’m def in!

Def shipping materials and stamps would be a big benefit, that’s about the only thing throttling me from going Oprah on the site with " you get some beans, and u get some beans, and u way in the back over there, u get some beans! Everybody gets some beans!"

That’s one of the points of the co-op boxes @AzSeaindooin420, to get beans out there to the masses. Its great if you want to just send out packs on your own all day long but in then end it does get pretty expensive. Really cool of you to be passing around those beans though bud, kudos to you :+1:

Well I did have a member donate $20 today, applying it straight towards a book of us stamps and some Canada ones. As of tomorrow I’ll have 32 mailers sent out since Friday and wanna keep the momentum going, I’ve got another idea I wanna run by u that I don’t want to make public yet so I’ll message u about it in a bit

Solves the quantity of task and lightens the pressure specially to Sebring, I have counted the packs involved in the last Box:

Captura

and the final result was 998 icon_e_surprised|nullxnull, too much to handle for one person only. That’s why I supported the idea for creating more US distributors. Site and members security was also my concern while moving it upstairs.

If you find a way to divide that hard duty between helpers it will be fine, otherwise trying to cut down those numbers is not a derailed solution …

yep, i ttly dig the timezone region idea if that would help

and @Sebring - i 'd be happy to help out any way you need even if just stapling and labeling coinflips and sending them back to you.
(thnx @Purple-N-Hairy)

The only way this works and still have seed runs is, they stay where they are, but the only wiki signup spots are for TL3.

Again, most of the guys doing the runs, like nube, are TL2. He does pack his own seeds at least tho…

The Regular Emeritus badge doesn’t grant entry to the Private Lounge, and I don’t think it can.

I offered in the past to help Sebring, I have a few years experience shipping first class and priority mail through the usps system. Offer is still open. I would get a label printer but I can afford that. Hopefully the rest of the supplies are somewhat covered.

You can also limit the number of packs offered in a seed-run.

If you want to move everything to tl3+ section, it will inevitably lead to the race for reaching the trust level. We will see various side effects, like forum spamming, sock puppet accounts, etc.

It’s an interesting idea but I don’t see a particular reason why there should be a strict division. Why not let everyone choose their own US distributor from those who have available capacity?

This is also a valid solution that I can get behind.

If we had several distributers in the US, say 3, and each member was assigned to one before the growers seeds were shipped but after the wiki was closed, then he would know how many to send to each distributer.

Like
Distributer A has 20 members
Distributer B has 15
Distributer C has 30

Then the grower would just ship that number out to each.

I just mean if the grower dosnt know how many to send, then it will be hard to know who has what available after a run. If he say just sent 25 packs to each, then what if C didn’t have enough ?
How will the members signed up know who to contact for the seeds ?

Unless you mean each member has a permanent distributer assigned and the grower knows some how ?

Idk I’m just trying to understand how it would work as each run has different members that sign up.

I kinda like the time zone idea as it would be easy to know quickly how many pack would be needed where by the distributors only. And then they would tell the runner how many they need.

And the first run would be as simple as saying
“If in time zone 1, PM distr. A”
" If in time zone 2, PM Dist B" etc.

Each might have 30 PMs to go though at first, but once they goes through 1 run they save the address like Sebring did. Then the next run they would probably only get like 4 or 5 new members/pms the second one.

And address and everything else could be sorted out later. But the Runner would be able to ship to each with just a head count.

I think some of that would become confusing for members of other countries have to send all over the world plus 4 time zones in the USA. Maybe have one time zone the main receiver to distribute to the different time zones. It would also avoid having to send 4 bulk seed packages across borders.

Yeah one package crossing is better the 4 haha

The subscription wiki could look like:

TL3:

  1. @user1 via @distributor1
  2. @user2 via @distributor2

(the distributor instead of a country flag)

User can subscribe only after he agrees on the distribution with a particular distributor that has the capacity and accepts him. Only his distributor will know the destination address.

After closing the wiki you can easily sum up how many seeds to send to each distributor.

Each distributor can have different area coverage and also different prices for shipping and different means to accept payments.

It could be a move to more decentralization.

In this model, there is no central hub to send packages to the distributors. Each breeder should send multiple packages to all distributors he wants to work with (preferably as many as possible). He could even pre-package the seeds to take some burden off the distributor.

That is all that really is needed.

I talked with Sebring today and I can say you have no idea what he has going in the back ground to pull the boxes off. Breaking that up would be a total shame.

Joe already set up the action group and communications are happening.

As past boxes have gone off with out a hitch, I see this as just a little bump in the road not the mountain it is being made into.

Just my opinion.

Kinda what I figured.
As has been said. I feel all that needs done is kick back, relax, and wait for Sebring to deal with his problems. He will come back and it will be like it was before. And then… If Sebring wants changes, let Sebring tell us what he wants and/or needs. I really think we have kinda jumped the gun a little. Out of all the ‘boxes’ that have been sent out in the past, this is the first real hiccup that I have witnessed. I’m certainly glad we have at least someone who can get in contact to make sure he is OK.

@G-paS glad to hear you got in touch with him, I hope he knows we all wish him well!

only concern there would be one distributor could get overwhelmed due to their individual popularity.

that would probably take a while to happen if you did an even distribution across those taking on the task initially and then newbies could pick from there…

or instead of timezone (since that would make it easier to see where people are) you could easily do it by alphabet for their username:
A-E = Distributor 1
F- R= Distributor 2
etc etc

that way on the sign up wiki you could easily import to xls and simply order by username and split up. quick and painless no matter who signs up

Wouldnt mind helping if its needed.
