I did find music, for my soul
Sub 40F nights in the forecast and for some reason I still have a luffa growing with babies all over it but nothing to pollinate with even if it weren’t about to freeze lol. They must be partially temperature dependent because there’s easily 18 baby luffas and no male flowers at all when it was the opposite at the peak of Summer.
I’m going to spray the next couple of weeks to clean stuff up and then hit them with some phosphorus and see if I can get some big blooms going before our short “winter” we have. Nothing really out there currently.
Just got back from a 1hr drive to obtain some FREE Golden/Yellow Raspberries - Everbearing cains/roots, This berry is large, very sweet, no tartness & almost tastes like apricot. NOTHING like a RED Rasberry, these are also a firm berry when squeezing, but not super soft or tough. Nice!
Someone was giving away these because they grew outside of the garden bed (they had literally 1000s of cains in 15ft of space) so I dug them up, drove home & dropped about 10 bunches of roots in the ground and gave half a dozen to a neighbor as well ,)
So far, research tells me these are either Fall Gold OR Ann Variety, based on what the person told us (producers 2x each year & what we tasted on site.
Funny enough, he said he originally found this Variety at the side of the road several years ago & didn’t elaborate
Anyways, the berries off this plant are AMAZING GOOD.
Thats awesome man
Cool man love the red flowers
Hey has anybody grown this variety of fig tree called beers black? I just cut her back big time as we move into the cool months but she never produced fruit and it’s supposed to be self-pollinating. This is year #2 I believe so would love to compare it with others, thanks
Never grown that variety myself. I put my fig trees in within the last year and they’re fruiting this year. Just Celeste and Brown Turkey though.
I also planted these two this year.
This is happening to me also. I dont know how to stop them. In the spring im building a fruit cage around the whole garden. Ive already got the hardware cloth
Oh nice my old location had a couple of really old fig trees that were fun to keep track of…critters def bombarded them every year. Couldn’t resist that sweet nectar. Nothing like homegrown fig or any fruit for that matter
Spray a bunch of mint oil on the perimeter of your garden for squirrels. They also have those nifty little motion activated sprinkler deals that will keep them away. I saw a crazy high tech one a few days ago. It was nuts. I’ll see if I can find out what type it was. Thing is a little AI robot on wheels deal that just patrols dudes yard and has a spray function. Anything that isn’t supposed to comes around and it gets sprayed. I think it emits a sound too.
I have double gold raspberries in a bed. They spread so fast. I started with one dormant cane in a 7~ gallon pot the first year and they went out the bottom of the pot and spread all over so I had a bunch of extra canes to plant spread out when I moved them to a bed this Spring. I found one 3 foot tall cane this Summer that I had missed that was about 15 feet away from where the pot was originally sitting. Probably only harvested a few cups of berries at most so far but next year the bed will have significantly more canes producing. I don’t actually like blackberries or red raspberries but these are definitely a better version.
Thats what happened to the person i picked the raspberries from too. Mine is now in a 3x8 bed, but i suspect it will spread regardless. Ill just have to keep it cut back regularly.
Another quick 30 mins local trip, and we meet a nice lady who let us pick some peppers & mint from her yard. She said she had enough, winter is comming and wanted to share. She’s so kind. No idea what they are??? when I asked what these are, she replied “Spicey” with a thick accent Oh ok, thank you and she gave us “Asain Mint” if this is an actual variety?
Either way Im blessed and said thank you and let lots for others also. Letting a few get more ripe and dry out the seeds.
If you might know what type of pepper? Let me know. My best guess is a Jalapeno, that is smaller and fatter lol
Ill definitely try this and very nice flowers you got
When i was at the dr the other day, they let me pick a full bush of cherry tomatoes that were perfectly ripe. I had a nice wait so i ate a handful and put away a bag for home . Funny they had a garden, also didnt mind me taking veggies
I’m unsure what they are but I think you can rule out jalapeño based on the shade of green I’m seeing. Too light. Too small for a banana pepper but the right color. Someone more versed in the wide world of peppers may be able to steer you right
