Going to Hawaii

I spent some time on the Big Island 20 years ago. We had a Jeep and were able to drive the rough lava roads to Makalawena, avoiding the long hike. The drive was an adventure unto itself! It was a super cool place to enjoy the natural surroundings.

Just saw this thread. Hope you’re having a great time.
If it’s not too late, there’s a redwood forest on Maui that you can hike through. IIRC, It’s halfway up Haleakala.

Deployed a few times to big island. We used go “borrow” a vehicle to run down the hill and grab $1 big macs or hit a bar at night. Theres a white sand beach that we were sure to visit iirc just north of kona. Then a black sand beach on the N shore with a nice hike down the hillside, watch for the blue jellyfish! If youre luck, prob too early yet. We used to goe to see the telescopes and .ake snow angels atop mauna kea(is that right?) Lol. They dont like when you invite yourself into the telescopes! Have fun! Hawaii is a treasure! Great weed too!!!
