Base Mix
7.5 gallons of peat moss
4.5 gallons of perlite
3 gallons of fresh EWC
2.5 cups of dolomite lime
Ammend with
2 cups bone meal
1 cup blood meal
1 cup kelp meal
I used this recipe, does it need to be watered before it cooks? I used pelletized lime. Will it make a difference? I know it has to cook for 3-4 weeks, can I add BAS craft blend or should I not?
Yes, it should be moist but not wet to compost. You should be able to form a clump if you squeeze it by hand but no moisture should come out. This recipe accounts for pelletized lime, should work fine. I would save the BAS craft blend as a, possible, top dress before flower. This recipe should have everything you need in it already.
I find no matter what I amend with, 2-3 cups per cubic foot is about where you want to be. Anything more than 3 cups and I’ve had issues.
3 half filled five gallon buckets is a cubic foot of soil.
And as @ReikoX tells people…Kelp is awesome. An organic gardener should always have a healthy supply of kelp and EWC (I sadly just ran out and had to buy some for my indoor garden ).
I would be looking for dolomitic limestone instead of pelletized lime. Dolomite which is powdered is quickly incorporated. Pelletized can be much too slow for marijuana grows. Peat mixes with dolomitic limestone will keep a rock steady ph over time.
