Yeah I was feeling your pain when you said your #'s @BTYGMO !
I have the 6ton dabpress and I can pull 14g after pressing it into a brick via a preform mold as I raw-dog my rosin bag-less. The 6tons work well so long as I do 2x fold/pressings after my first pull. It’s 3 leaves per 14g and more labour but worth it.
The volume I’m looking at this for this years outdoors had me buy a pollen tumbler on sale a few weeks back when I clued in on the stacking factor as the buds start to come into their own.
So I plan on going to far with:
1: Tumble buds,
2: Crumble buds, tumble again.
3: 2-3x Washing machine runs with this pre-tumbled chaff for Bubble hash.
@Pigeonman I didn’t even give myself much of a break as I just picked up a new set of bags lol… I had to!!! They are doing the 50 percent off closing sale at my closest hydro shop unfortunately they were just not getting enough traffic. But I plan on making the best of it and breaking them in this weekend lol !!! That is awesome and I have seen amazing things from dry tumble there is some artists out there. I have not really experimented yet but in due time lol. Cheers !!!
Wow, sorry I didn’t see this till now.
This is the way I use my press,
I put the short end inside the press and fill it to just near the top with the dry sift.
Now start the longer end into the press, holding both ends tip the press on it’s side and put it in the jaws of a bench vise, crank the vise shut until you can’t squeeze it anymore.
Let it sit all locked up for about five (5) min.
Take the press out of the vise and take the short end off.
The dry sift should be compressed and you can pop it out of the press.
I suppose you could use a “C” clamp if you don’t have a bench vise.
I have heard of people using a hammer, they load the press up and smack one end with a hammer while the press is sitting on the floor or some other hard surface. I paid like 65.00 for the press I have so I don’t think I’d take the chance of beating the press to death with a hammer, however if you don’t have a vice I’m sure the "C"clamp method would work just as well. You could cut some waxed paper to fit inside the press, that would help the “puck” to release although that seems kind of tedious to me… If your press gets “sticky” you can clean it with a bit of alcohol.
I smoke this on a pin, under a glass, the old ways sometimes are the best.
I hope this works out for you!
Ace Malawi flower rosin first pre heat press to 200 then pressed at 190 then at 240, blew the bag but I still pulled 4.5 g off 24 grams waxiest flower rosin I’ve ever pressed can’t wait to wash a load when the other plant is done.
My TLT Malawi gold got almost destroyed from winds but I’ll get enough to press a few nugs the RSC mg is still coming along, we’ve been blessed with good weather this year. The ace plants are done . It will be a fun comparison after they all cure
Am I the only one here that said “fuck it” to bags?
I tried them a few times and feel like there’s soooo much waste caught in the bag. Granted I didn’t experiment enough to see the best way to go about it.
Ideally i was hoping one day to see in person a demo of bag pressing for the in-between the lines info. I just preform and go, the third press is the only one that ends up with a lil’ plant material in it and i’m currently not aiming for pure rosin without any of the additives that come with not using a bag.
I’ve pressed my Somali Taxi ride (Neville’s wreck x Malawi gold) from rare dankness it’s a syrup pressing strain but really good high and yield I was shocked. I wanna do some ferments as well. I did this one last weekend had to give it to someone tho, I should make more.
I pressed the ace Malawi last week also and it turned to frozen peanut butter consistency in 2 days, Its potent for sure, can’t wait to try the other plants
Traditional Malagasy Zamal Black Oil, made with 90 percent alcohol, filtered 3 times through mesh bags and coffee filter.
High in CBD, great anti inflammatory and painkiller properties. Great for insomnia.
If I was doing flower to rosin it would be no bag for me, bubble hash goes in a bag.
I do save up the bags and give them quick iso wash to get that last little bit into oil .
