Did you know that first real “cannabis culture” was India? Cannabis was identified as one of five sacred Indian plants incorporated in basis of Hinduistic religion and used to remove anxiety.

In India culture it is called sacred weed, bhang, which protects man from disease and prolongs life. Source for this discovery is Atharva-veda - Indian sacred book dated to 2000-1400 BC.

According to this book, legend says that cannabis was born at moment when gods churned up sea levels with mountaintop of Mandara (possibly Mount Everest) then on the ground dripped divine nectar (amrita). And at this place first cannabis plant grew.

Did you know that oldest written word for cannabis comes from Chinese? Its “ma” symbol resembles threads of cannabis drying on the house… It means hemp, cannabis and also “many” and “chaotic”.

I did know that. Did you know in Japan it is considered a holy and is the central aspect of the Shinto religion? When the emperor ascends to the thrown he must be dressed in pure hemp and Sumo wrestlers big white belts are made of hemp because it signifies purity.

Did you know that archeologists recently found cannabis plant even with seeds in tomb 2.500 years old?

This discovery adds to a growing collection of archaeological evidence showing that cannabis consumption was “very popular” across the Eurasian steppe thousands of years ago

There is not probably reason to have this topic in member-only Shark’s Tank… So I’m moving it into more prominent Smoker’s Lounge category.
