HLG Scorpion Diablo X vs Scorpion Diablo

Hey y’all, I was wondering which of these two lights was better. I see that the main difference is the light ratios and the wattage. I’m not sure which is better in terms of growing cannabis.

Both worthy lights with slightly different efficiencies.

I’d buy the X for that extra .2

Damn these lights have come down in price. I paid $1200 on sale for my SD couple years back. It’d be nice if HLG would make that reflector available for the older SD’s.

It’s their cyber Monday deal! I’m trying to buy two for when I’m out in California and have a grow room.

Is the .2 better than the extra wattage however? I feel like I won’t even notice the difference if I buy either or lol

No you probably wouldn’t notice but from a purchase decision standpoint it’s a standout.

I’m not an expert but I do have an HLG100 and I really, really, like it.

Edit: on closer inspection they are both 700ish watts and it wouldn’t sway my decision on either :+1:

Awesome! Thanks for your input, I’ll go with the X fo sho then.

I think the x is better for flower production

Either will work well. I would go with Diablo personally as it is full spectrum. The X seems to have a mainly flowering spectrum so not as versatile IMO.

Thank you, I currently run their blackbird and have nothing but good things to say!

I did however change my order from the X to the regular.

Those 100Rspecs are nice little lights! I’m impressed by what 2 in a 3x3 do for me. Iv got a 600Rspec in another tent as well.

@Mr.Christmas what size room will you be putting these in?

We shall see, said the blind man.

The houses I’m actively looking at generally have a spare bedroom of at least 12x11, so hopefully that size.

I really think that was a wise choice bud. They are full spectrum as opposed to the X model that had a mainly flowering spectrum. IMO the Rspec is the better light as it is more versatile. That X model would be more for a dedicated flower room/tent. Congratulations, I am sure they will do well for you.

Thanks for this thread @Mr.Christmas I’m in the same place you were… I’m leaning the same way you went with the reg what with the versatility, hows it workin out for you?

Hey pal,

You just missed an HLG 25% off sale! I love em, they’ve worked great for me thus far. I had one kick the can early (two samsung boards stopped working), and they sent me a new one, no questions asked.

Any update? I ordered the X since it was discounted refurbished. Hard to pass at around $800 after their 15% discount code worked. I’m guessing I’ll need to add in more white light if I’m looking for a balanced spectrum. The wording on brochures and manuals tells me the lamps are for for veg and flower, but understanding growth cycles of cannabis im thinking the lamps are unbalanced. May have to Talk to HLG directly to see what they have to say.

Now would be a good time, they currently have a 25% sale on.

I’d like to grab a 650 Tomahawk but cant swing it right now, vacation funds take priority.
