How many hours of light do you use when starting indoors?

I’ll chime in even though the consensus is clear.

24/0 for seedling/clone starting
18/6 for established seeds/clones and entire veg
12/12 for flower
48 hour darkness hold before cut at end.

If I may interject a small addition:

I’ve been growing Strawberry Kush from seeds a friend gifted me (gram jar full!)
-trouble is, they always herm(ed) on him. — me too on my first round.

After reading way too much,

I ran 12/12 for the first 3 weeks of flower, then reset the timer for

11.5 on / 12.5 off.
No herms!

Interesting. 11.5 to the end? I’m surprised a half hour would make then difference but that’s awesome.

I generally run 24 hours a day at first then switch to 18 on when there’s a couple sets of true leaves. The cloner runs at 20/4. Sometimes I’ll switch lights to 11/13 towards the end of flower if I’m trying to bring out different expressions or if it is a longer flowering strain. For super long flowering I’d even take it down as low as 10/14 to help it ripen up

I was pretty shocked it worked too.

I knew my THEORY worked, but reality is often so different.
The growmie I got my seeds from is about week 6 IIRC - we’ll know in a few weeks if the theory holds, or if I’m gonna end up at his dining room table de-seeding ounces like it’s 1983…

Really hope it works for a few reasons:

  1. I really like the aroma / flavors / effects.
  2. I have another 30ish of these seeds (& I’m too stubborn to NOT run them lol!).
  3. Herms and reject plants leave the tent and go into a sunny room in the house to finish - then they’re used for hash & edibles — and of course, I end up with more seeds.
