How would it look like? World without alcohol

Imagine how the world will look like if alcohol would not existed and people would use Cannabis on the regular basis like they use alcohol now. In the begginig will there be a chaos? The world that we know today will slow down. :grinning: People will go back to nature and finde themselfes there. I noticed that prople that smoke cannabis or even if they dont, but they dont see it as a drug or any other negative way are more oriented to nature and human welfare. Thats just my opinionā€‹:grinning: there are exeptions.

What do you think about that?

Just have a thought how the world will look like if there will be that one change?

Deep thoughts :joy: :dizzy: :dizzy:

I hate to say it, but if beer wasnā€™t invented the Egyptions would have all died drinking from the Nile.

That being said, I can imagine a world where cannabis prohibition never happened. :+1:

Agreed. But thereā€™s a big difference between 3% alcohol to kill pathogens culture and a gallon of 4Loko culture.

A few I can think of: longer lasting textiles, bio plastics, bio diesel, hempcrete, medicinesā€¦ Basically anything you can do with oil.

True, thatā€™s also a product of [alcohol] prohibition. Prior to that, distilled liquor wasnā€™t a thing. People started doing it so it was easier to smuggle.

Lots of very interesting factoids in the history of alcohol. What most people consider beer is actually much lighter than it used to be.

Wartime meant rations which meant keeping beer flowing with fewer inputs led to light beer, which is now dominant.

Hoegarden is a good example of someone trying to make a low alcohol beer palatable in times of war.

But itā€™s been awhile since Iā€™ve read about it :+1:

Tutankhamen Light! Now with extra ā€œrefreshingnessā€

I actually own a WW2 ration booklet of 24 cases from the beer store. They look like little stamps. Perhaps I should try to redeem them just for fun

I love beer facts. Did you know the IPA was developed by adding hops to the casks to preserve the beer longer while sailing long distances?

I did yeah. Something about oxidation from the beer splashing with the waves being desirable and being ā€œon woodā€ in barrels too. The neatest beer I ever drank was a very hoppy IPA that they put on beer gas like draft Guinness. A very interesting beverage.

I remember something about water chemistry and that ales tended to me made in areas of hard water and lagers being made in areas of soft water.

This is useful information for a hobbyist. I used to brew alot of beer

My brother brews beer like I make hash.

He brews beer in a 10 ton press? :joy:

If I still had it in me I would consider using cannabis as a bittering/dry hopping ingredient. Not about potency but for flavour.
Itā€™s not going to happen but itā€™s an interesting thought.

The medieval benedictine monks used to drink 8 pints of beer a day.

Its not the alcohol content, its because you have to boil the water to mash it in, thats what kills the pathogens.

I love beer FACT
If we never had alcohol Iā€™d likely never get laid. Iā€™m not saying Iā€™m ugly! People who are drunk appreciate my sense of humour More than sobre people do. :v:

So heā€™s an alcoholic then???
You give me the ammunition so expect the trigger to be pulled.

Some of the best vinegar is made from beer. And sauces. I think a good beer is almost as important to cooking as it is to being consumed for itā€™s individual merit. Couldnā€™t go without a good sauce for my beef.

I believe the world will see a drastic decrease in alcohol consumption in the next decade.
Alcohol taxation should, and will rise too, and rightly so, in the long run itā€™s a bigger strain on the healthcare system than covid ever was.
Cannabis legalization is slowly becoming the norm.
The future is looking amazing!

Pretty sure they were boiling their water and making tea and soup already. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
Maybe even cannabis soup and tea! Our ancestors are too underrated.

Beer is actually a dietary requirement for some; different metabolism.

Also drinking of alcohol is linked to slower aging and greater overall general health.

If I stop drinking I get white hairs in the beard and hairā€¦when I start back up they mysteriously go away. I also look 10 years younger.
