I Want Amylase Enzyme Powder

Hello all:

I want to try to use amylase enzyme to try and convert the starches in buds into sugar by doing a mini mash. What will this achieve? I dunno. I want to do it anyway.

I also don’t want to spend $40 on a pound of the stuff for a silly experiment.

Are there any home brewers out there who might be able to break me off a small baggie of the stuff?

I got this idea in another thread and the more I think about it the more I want to do it.

Maybe the heat required for the mash will result in too much decarb? Again, I dunno.

A long shot but I thought I’d throw it out there and ask.

Cmon guys, science!

Good luck mate and post updates! even if it fails it will still be the best idea that came from that “terpz” thread

There is a whole “new” market for distilled cannabis products. Though this is far from a new concept modern techniques have made this a very do-able process. There are wines and beers already on the market made from cannabis.
Do a search and I am sure you will find plenty of information to guide you……

Agreed but do they mash their hops? I’d be curious to know. As I remember hops are added during boiling.

Appreciate it but a Canadian source has appeared.

I went on a rabbit hole a few years back for Potassium Bicarbonate which I use to make a “FUCK YOU PM” preventative spray.

Got it from a brewing supplier so as soon as I saw my growmie @Foreigner looking for something usually found from brewing suppliers I just hit up my bookmarks and :boom:!

Gotta love that I had this info in my back pocket by accident… but then again **i am an information hoarder/sharer! :ok_hand:

me too. i have bookmark backups from 2000. not to mention downloads of references from then as well. i have several hard drives with backups and need to finish my ‘de-dupe’ program. it would search the folders, hash and index everything, and give me a list of duplicate files so i could get rid of my 22 copies of everything i have.

@sfzombie13 everything you just said made me extra tired. I’m now going to go make my second esspresso and be grateful I’m not a digital data technician!

you’d think but it’s all automated. i’m lazy as hell. love my scripts. i love that just set it and forget it.

In many IPA’s a process is used called dry hopping. I mention IPA’s because it is what most brewers suggest when using cannabis.

Here is a site to check out that may help
You to understand the process better:

It’s certainly not the best on the subject but very basic and easy to understand!

if an ipa was the only type of “beer” there was i’d gladly give it up forever. i hate that piss-tasting stuff.

Yeah dry hopping for sure.

I was more thinking of starch conversion. I’m talking like small scale, not for drinking, but maybe dry it out and try to smoke and see if it caramelizes. I dunno. Just random thoughts.
