Jarring/Bagging buds

We don’t lose them, they’re just waiting in the bottom of the jar for us

True. The only time I’ve ever cleaned a jar has been before putting it into service. I’m probably sitting on a goldmine.

I give it away to my friends. I still have a long way to go with the trimming, the most tedious part of growing.

This is the way. It’s nice to be so flush you can do nice things for other people.

Day 10 or 11 of hang dry, i clipped these buds, put in mason jar for 6hours. Hygrometer is reading 56%. That means everythings ready for the grove bags right? Or even really too dry already?
What’s your word on this @FirstCavApache64

I’d get em in the bags asap. I don’t usually check with a hygrometer anymore, it’s just at the point of stems snapping and I go with how they feel when doing the final trim. I’m sure they’ll do great in the bags. Grove recommends sealing with a heat sealer but I don’t have one so I just zip em up and put them in a cool dark closet or safe.

Ok here’s another “JAR” question. If the humidity is already under 60% on the day you jar it. Do you still need to burp it?

Same here. I have been using 1/4 and 1/2 lb bags. I open carefully, and do not heat seal. I don’t smoke out of the bags, I will pull some buds into my stash tin or jar, and put the grove back in the cabinet. Never had a problem with the seal breaking in any way.

I don’t. I may open it for a quick sniff but burp no.

Oh ok cool, I’ve been popping the top 2x a day huffing it, the bakery smell coming from this SSDD F2 BX1 is pretty amazing. Aromatherapy :+1:

Could yall link or name the humidity meters you’re talking about?

I ended up getting these ones recently, and they were horrible. Reviews looked ok, but only 4 of 12 were accurate. Some were WAY off. And I see no way to calibrate them. So I can link what ones not to get. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07PDSMN1Y?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details&th=1

Thanks for the heads up. Yeah I figure that many for that price, something ain’t right

Just reading through this…lots of interesting ideas and approaches.
I use a combo of jars and bags.
Jars I burp by taking the lid off, waving it around to circulate some air, and then put the lid back on.
For the ziplock bags, I open them and kind of do the same thing, wave them around for a bit and then reseal.
I have a dozen of the small black hygrometers, so I toss on into the bags and let them sit while I continue to trim. Sometimes I have a bag that’s too dry, like 55%…so I’ll take a fresher bud that I’ve just trimmed and put it in that bag. After a few days, the humidity is right at 62%.
I take all of my plastic bags and put them in a big plastic storage tub, which sits on the floor in a closet.
And yeah, I give almost all of it away. No one in this house smokes. DW does enjoy a small piece of fudge just before dinner, and my neighbor loves my fudge and caramels, so I probably make about 2-3lbs of butter, which uses 3-4oz of herb. And that’s it for “local” consumption. The rest I give away.
Year before last I gave away around 2 pounds. Last year I was doing some breeding, so didn’t have a huge harvest. This year is another 2 pounds.
I was going through the freezer looking for some hamburg, and came across a bag with some Wedding Cake butter in it, that was from 2021, I think. Gave that away the other night when someone stopped by.

I just like growing

My favo so far has been Blackstrap Molasses, but sadly, the member that sent them to me is no longer around, and I got too busy to reverse one of the plants, so no more seeds. That strain made beautiful purple buds and had a great smell.

I keep meaning to grow a few really big photos outdoors, just haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Maybe this coming year,.

You can tell from the humidity level of the living room that the woodstove has been cranking lately
