I did only a bit of lst in the beginning but nothing else! It is beginning to be clear that, even when considering difference in strains, bigger pots will always mean bigger plants… Dawning on me as I go along…! Learning!
Don’t think I topped her but I’ll look! @JohnnyPotseed would you confirm that!? Thanks!
@Abbbian there’s an old saying cuz, ‘The more root, the more fruit’ and it’s an ‘old saying’ lol because it’s true! The bigger the pot you use, the more root you get. Although I feel this should come with a disclaimer lol I think there can come a point where too much pot is used, which is wasteful & self-defeating. Unless, you’re vegging for a long term, if say, you veg for 5-6 months, then definitely use 5gal or bigger, but if vegging only 2-3 months, then 3-5 gal would suffice.
The majority of my Auto grow uses 3gal, but if I’m going for longer, full mature vegging like 5-6mos. of Photoperiod, then I’ll use 5gal or put in the ground
I’ve also noted that if you are willing to do daily waterings you can get the same size plant out of a 1 gal versus a 2 gallon if they are vegged for the same time period.
I’m sorry cuz, But i gotta disagree with that. If you use too small a pot, no matter how much water/feed you do, the plant is going to be stunted to a point. Just think how much bigger that plant woulda been without being root-bound…
I’ll use 1gal pots for an ‘intermediate/stage’ before going into larger on my photo-period plants. But trust me when I say this, it doesn’t matter if auto or photo, 1gal pot will give you root-bound, stunted plants!
Don’t misunderstand me cuz, I’m not saying you can’t get big pretty plant in a 1 gal pot lol I’m saying just think how much bigger it’d been if you’d used bigger pots so it didn’t get root-bound!
Yeah TOTALLY my bad on that point being forgotten! Air-pots: keep em tended and you’re golden but fail even just once and that may just be the end of that.
I am liking my just under 1 gallon pots for seed runs though, when you are in a tent stunting their growth a bit can be helpful. Only problem is you got to tie them up when they become too top heavy. I use 5 gallon fabric pots when it’s a bud run.
I do 1gal pots also for boys/pollen/seed run
For instance, right now I have some Ruderalis going, in 1 gal pots lol any girls that show get tossed. I’m only going for the boys to get pollen for use in making auto
Yes sir, the 3 in the back were up potted to 5 gallon because they were much older. 5 of the 6 females that are currently in there are in these. They are .8 gallon
My only BOG Sour Strawberry that survived, (only had 3 seeds), Turned out to be a girl. I took a couple cuttings from her to do a possible reversal on one and pollinate the other. Havin a hard time getting the cuttings to clone. Some other strains that I took cuttings of at the same time, all have since rooted and are well growing on their own. Just those two BOG SS!
May I request on behalf of the group that you keep the best female and make a limited run of JPS Rude-Beans for us to purchase from the vault to have the possibility of also trying to make autos?
