Dude! Sorry to hear your having to leave the business. Actually, I thought you and Rose would be rolling in the dough, with the commercial grow. I know it’s expensive, but if it were not financially a good business, no one would do it. And specially with your kids helping you out.
No one knows the struggles a person endures, so all I can say is I’m sorry you have to scale back on something you obviously love doing.
I sure hope that soon, your troubles will be a thing of the past. Much love, my brother.
We were never ‘rolling in dough’ cuz lol We only did small batch, organic, top shelf, with the ‘big dog’ growers turning out 125lbs+/week every week and the outdoor growers having a ‘bumper crop’ this past fall. the Dispos are getting it literally dirt cheap, and some Dispos here in the Tulsa area are selling it for $100/ounce! We can’t sell it for $400-$600 an LB, especially after having to pay over $200 to get it tested first!
I pray things get better for you and your family Mr.Johnny! At 73 I think your doing pretty well but I know its a job maintaining a commercial grow. I hope it will be less stress on you.
I hope you don’t think I was making light of your situation. On the contrary. Hang in there brother, it’s gotta get better.
Dude, ya don’t need to say good morning to yourself. Its creepy actually…
here’s the proper way:
Goooooooooooooooooooooooddd Moooooooooooooooorning OG! (but ya gotta use Robin Williams voice)
never crossed my mind cuz and thnx
During my visit in Oklahoma, I absolutely couldn’t believe how CHEAP the dispos were advertising bud!
I never would have survived in my early growing days at those rates. In AZ, there are far fewer dispensaries, and top shelf ends up being like $80/eighth after the 25% recreational tax
You know the difference between a smart fella and a fart smella? The smart fellas fart down wind and watch the invisible wall hit the fart smellas!
Must be why @Slick1 always places himself down wind from me
even that, we could probably live with. But there’s so many big money players came to OK with their money. I can’t blame them though, it’s the cheapest state in the US to operate a commercial grow. Small ‘mom-n-pop’ ops can’t compete. I know one commercial setup that turns out over that 125lbs i mentioned and that’s from hothouses churning out every week all year long, not to mention their outdoor grow that they harvested over 5ooolbs from in November.
But all that aside, the work load is getting to be too much on the wife and me. It’s not good the way we hurt some days after trying to get things done here. That’s IF we manage to get things done, even in sometimes a halfass manner, or partially.
I wouldn’t fart around you, it would get you excited
As a lot of you know already, I manage to get around using my rollaround walker, even using that to help me move pots etc. Even on that I have to stop and rest on the seat halfway to or from the barn some days. The barn is 40’ from the house…
any man has to know when to toss in the towel and stop the fight. I been fighting stopping for too long.
Ever thought about using trolleys to help move plants around?
lol ya trying to just go on and end me here, right cuz? Keep working on things until I drop dead?
Also, are YOU gonna front the money to do so?
lol even if the answer was a ‘yes’ I’d have to say thnx, but no thnx!
It costs us, on the cheap, making our own soil and such, over 25k/yer to operate a commercial grow.
The kick in the nuts long term I think is how much of a boost Big Canna is getting, while regulations are strangling craft cannabis / mom and pops. Money talks, sadly, and we all know the small guys don’t have an endless well to go to.
Then they throw on laws that prohibit home grow, forcing people to accept the junk big canna is churning out. Home Grow being illegal, while being able to legally possess and purchase finished products seems like a political monopoly to me. A commercial grower shouldn’t be threatened by home grow (how many grow their own cigs, or brew their own beer vs purchase finished goods?) but Big Canna / Pharma, large scale illegal (underground) commercial grows and ridiculous regulations and compliance measures pretty much push legit craft growers out.
If the playing field was leveled, the price would be what the market could bear. Quality flower would command the higher price, and get it. Shit growers would be out of business cause nobody wants to pay for garbage.
Never really saw how much the cards are stacked against the “People” in favor of the fat cats and government officials lining their pockets until I began the process of applying for a license to create a legitimate business.
Free Market Society? What’s that?
lol It was like that…the first year or so. But once the ‘big money folks’ got to rolling with their ops, the price dropped through the floor. Because they literally flooded the market. Knowing the small ops couldn’t compete and be outta business, making it THEIR market.
F’em
Money talks…
And as odd as it sounds, its the primary reason I HATE MONEY
I really do. It causes so much grief in so many aspects of life. Its a created evil.
Money = Power is another saying I loathe. How about knowledge, skills, or talents = power?
/rant off I’m not going down that rabbit hole today. Its a depressing downward spiral, and well OG is not where I wanna see that…
SO… How about some updated pics Johnny? Happy plants make for happy people ya know
If yer feeling up to it of course…
Pics of what cuz? Told ya I been thinning the rooms down so we’re legal by Feb. Nothing to take pics of other than the mothers and a very few clones. I’m harvesting the last batches from the budroom now
I’ll post pics of plants after i get some started and into the growing, in the next few weeks lol
Oh you’re too humble…
Thinning down the rooms, and you still likely have more than most do
People also like nug shots
Or… pics of sunsets. your pups. yourself and the little lady. just no nekkid pics… We dont want you to get banned from OG for indecency
