Thought I’d ask the pros for any advice. First grow in a while and seems I forgot a lot. Started out overwatering and completely forgot about ph’ing my water. Started watering every third day and ph’ing to 6-6.5 range and mixing quarter strength fox farm nutes every other watering couple weeks ago. I think new growth looking decent now. Appreciate any advice. Two on right are Frankie fems and other four are motorbreath 15 x RIL diesel. And this should make u feel good @BigMike55 I started these approx same time as u mine just been fighting for their lives I clearly have a lot to learn still, glad I know u guys.
Sounds like you got things back on track there my friend. A rough start, yeah…but looking good now and I don’t think I’d change anything you’re doing. You should be able to gradually up the nutes a little every week.
Those don’t look too bad to my old eyes.
Sometimes it takes a while to get a cultivar dialed in. Especially if it a strain you have not already run, to know what you need to do to come into tip top shape, in my opinion.
Did you start with new soil? What kind? They look a bit hungry. If they have been in the soil over three weeks or four, I would give half strength every other watering for a few cycles and see what they do. Don’t over water. That’s easy to do.
This is just my opinion. There are better experts than my novice ass. I get lucky sometimes. Haha.
This is what I used. Bought couple bags was lil short so used some old of the same kind from past grow for filler but 90% new. Think I’m gonna try some fox farms soil next time
And two bottles on right what I’m mixing quarter strength
I use the Fox Farms trio as well. I usually mix mine in a five gallon bucket. For a full five gallon bucket during veg, I use three tablespoons of the Big Bloom and 2 tablespoons of the Grow Big. and adjust from there. Good luck, bro. You got this. It ain’t easy, but it ain’t hard.
Oh and for soil, I know many frown, but I use Fox Farms Happy Frog. I tied the Ocean forest and found it to be not what I like. A little too hot for the plant. I went back to Happy Frog and never looked back. I also use a half a sack of perlite to one big sack of soil. And when up potting I always use some Mycos for the roots.
After harvest I rinse the soil as well as I can and store it in a big plastic trash bin. And re use it. Several times before buying new.
Thanks guys I knew I could count on y’all for some sound advice. Thanks for the pointers.
I don’t buy any of the soils sold in stores, so can’t comment on ‘best’ or ‘better’ lol I do buy perlite and even worm castings, also use Mycorrhizae
I used some good topsoil I dug up outside once and halfway thru my grow eggs hatched and overnight I had what seemed like millions of some sort of flying bugs in my closet sprayed and sprayed finally got em but decided to go with store bought soil from then on.
We use all the household kitchen refuse. Coffee grounds, egg shells, veggie peelings, etc Toss 400-500 red wigglers into the bin every 6 months. Also all Ganja trim, stems, etc After done for a grow cycle, toss the used soil into the bin also. Turn it every week.
That might sound rather simplistic, sorry. We also use a LOT of amendments too. They make their way into the bin, like powdered kelp, Silica, liquefied fish (cold processed) etc
Do u not get bugs in it? Do u put something in it to prevent bugs from laying eggs in it @JohnnyPotseed ? Definitely would prefer not to buy soil. I’m a poor country boy and there’s plenty of rich dirt around
Occasionally there may be bugs, but usually beneficial. If we see any that aren’t then hit em with the MTA ‘one-n-done’. lol But THB, we haven’t seen very many that were harmful yet, I think there are methods to sterilize soils found/used from ‘the wild’.If you try google.
@GallacreekD66 here’s what I found
When temperatures are raised above 212oF (100oC), most of the soil borne organisms are killed and the soil is considered sterile. Gardeners can pasteurize homemade potting soils using a kitchen oven; however, a long-lasting earthy odor can develop in the oven. To pasteurize soil, preheat the oven to 180oF.
That Jenny Kush ive been looking high and low for that one between that and deep chunk what a rabbithole
Thanks man. I appreciate the feedback. Good info
