I’ve had a hard time finding the powdered water soluble version below 65%. All the local places want to sell me liquid.
This is what I have I never used it because I just remember one of the podcasts said its super powerful and I didn’t want to throw anything off in the soil system you think just follow the directions or use less?
I’m no expert on it, so if I was you I’d prob just be following the directions, maybe try half the strength and see if you notice anything.
I don’t think the wasp will be chewing on leaves unless it’s using them to make a nest with.
I think your main problem with the plants is too much N, they are very dark.
I notice on plants that have very dark leaves that they can be droopy, I think it is to reduce the amount of light the plant absorbs. Darker colours absorb more light, so to avoid over heating and reduce light absorption they droop or curl there leaves.
Wondering if they’re becoming root bound as well? I’m not sure how to exactly know when to transplant and waiting on a report to see which ones are females. You think they look droopy @Shadey? Look back a couple days didn’t think they were drooped maybe thirsty? I’ve only fed them the Alaskan fish fertilizer one time a month ago and they don’t have that waxy look either like I’ve seen them before
I was going to post this a while ago but one of my cover crops has the same look for a while now before these plants were even here
You got a lot of soil so if you can afford it, you may want to send some in to Logan labs for a soil test and then you should know 100% what’s going on I think, but I have never done that, yet.
I think the too much N could be a good call and the other plants do look a bit droopy as well, they should be pointing straight out flat is the most ideal.
However, that picture with the leaf discoloration should tell you a lot, I don’t think we saw that before… is that on one of the older leafs?
Have you seen this chart before, maybe you can figure it out from there?:
Looking at that chart, I also wonder if you got something goin on with phosphorus?
Reading it said something about blue green leaves and that reminded me of the plants in the white containers.
Do you have one of those soil PH meters?
Just take one out of the pot and check its roots, you will know then if its root bound.
Could be just thirsty but I am seeing the leaves claw a bit in the pics further back so I definitely think you they have too much N atm. As they get bigger they will be less affected hopefully. It may be the strain these big wide leaf strains seem to be more floppy leaved.
Your cover crops are going to have slightly differing needs, the sun flowers that grew in my pots with the weed recently, had leaves with similar stress signs, I think it was the LED lights causing it on the sun flowers.
Burned tips = hot soil
I usually get it at first, then they grow out of it. Some strains grow out of it faster than others.
@GnomeyByNature Yeah the discoloration is towards the bottom of the plant only as of now and I do have a nice PH meter I never use guess I’m going to start to keeping track for now on
@Shadey Yeah I think they’re thirsty as well I checked soil its getting on the drier side I’m going to water in some of the fishsh!t for the first time today
How hot is considered hot soil? Are you talking about when reactions are taking place in the soil or when it’s getting too hot from lights/ambient etc?
That should def give you insight when it’s specific like that(to just older growth), study that chart or find another one similar that might be more legible, you got this!
When I had that issue, I got lots of help. The first I took was to just make sure they got a chance to almost dry out and flush with plain (ph~6.5) for two watering. This was all mine needed.
Its when the leaves get burn marks on them from too much nutrient uptake and too much N in the soil.
Hard to pinpoint it exactly off that chart
Yeah, which made me curious about ph cause I feel like that could lockout multiple things and this be hard to pinpoint…
Maybe there is also the chance of bad bacteria? Only saying that cause maybe that wouldn’t show on there either…
But maybe @Shadey is correct… thinking about what you did, did you cut previous cover crop with those cuttings staying in the soil to decompose and putting stuff on top of that? Maybe that would give excess N and need time to cook before planting? I think I heard Jeremy in a recent buildasoil video possibly mention 2 weeks wait time?
No its been a while since it has been cut down but it’s all turned back into dirt now I only ran the autos through it and added another thing of dry ingredients maybe it there was just to much left over from the autos
