I’ve noticed some strains don’t really grow roots during flower, instead using what they have established. I don’t know if that is a general fact or not.

How’d you figure that out? Just from transplanting?

@Badger Didn’t you say you play your plants zeppelin?

Was just reading some stuff reminded me of you thought you said you played rock for your plants?

“Retallack later replicated the experiment with rock music (like Led Zeppelin and Jimi Hendrix) on a variety of plants. She observed abnormal vertical growth and smaller leaves. She also observed the plants to have damage similar to that associated with excessive water uptake. In the experiment, marigolds died within two weeks. No matter which way they were turned, plants leaned away from the rock music source. These findings were documented in Retallack’s 1973 book The Sound of Music and Plants.

We put some into flower right after transplant. They roots didn’t really leave the current 1 gallon footprint, into the other 4 gallons of soil. After harvest, the 1 gallon would pull right out of the rest of the soil.

I play credence and skynard when I’m working the flower room sometimes.

If they don’t like that, they have bad taste.

Edit: I appreciate the thought buddy. I’m gonna read that when I get time.

Interesting I wondered what the roots did when switched to flower

Is your fan oscillating? If it is I think it’s fine/good to keep it on 24/7 as long as it’s not set at too high of a speed as well.

I feel like you have it over watered. I looks like the leaves are droopy but the stems are till stout, so I’m pretty sure that’s overwatered where I think the underwatered scenario the stems would also be droopy if I remember correctly?

What temps/humidity you got goin on in there again? Any CO2?

If you raise the temperature (and the humidity some to stay in drier side of veg or flower optimal zone), it might help evaporate that soil a bit faster I would think.

Finger test? Or one of those cheap soil moisture/ph prodding sensor/meters?

Yeah it is but it’s kind of close and I noticed it was hitting that one specifically the most I have the tent flaps kind of close on it so the wind isn’t real strong but across them all but that changes day to day depending on how much I close them in the morning but I changed that so see if that stops it. I turned the drip system off a couple weeks ago I ran it once some time in between but only for 2 minute run so soil should be drying up for a nice compost tea soaking soon. The temperature has been on the lower side since it’s been warmer out I turned the heater off and leave the back door open with screen door still closed just so fresh air comes in that’s been over a month now maybe that’s why its taking on some purple colors hard to say.

The probe is in a pocket inside the tent about halfway down.

Yeah, your avg is on the lower side, I would figure your lights would make it warmer but if your tent is very open then yeah…

Maybe if you could raise your average a bit but without having too crazy of spikes? Might help it dry out a bit faster…

What’s the finger soil moisture test showing you near that one plant?

Haven’t went over and checked will report back in the am

I would say that was a good experiment. Would be nice to see if it repeated.

That’s common when you don’t give a bit of veg time before flowering .

I experienced that issue a while back when my plants couldn’t get enough to drink and were falling over at week 3 .

I did a up pot to 4 gal from 2 in the end 0 roots in the new dirt but it did prevent the plants from falling over and they used the extra medium to stay wet .

Wow I’ve never seen leaf curl so much what the heck! I poked my finger in the soil it’s not dry but it’s not moist either I’d say it’s more dry than wet though

How long are you going between waterings? That bed looks like it would hold a lot of water.

Time for a good dose of LITFA.

Adding a bunch of chopped banana peels wouldn’t hurt though, but it’ll take some time.

Was dialing that in think I’m at 2 minutes once a week but the past month it’s been turned off so I can water them with more compost tea soon

I’ve been giving them LITFA most of this time just document along the way cause something always goes wrong

They look like they wanna start flowering and are searching for phosphor and potassium but aren’t finding much. If you add a bunch of chopped banana peels (which have lots of both) in a circle around each plant now then at least your next grow will do better. In the best case it helps this grow too.

I think its the fertil pots that they’re in they trap the roots if they’re not wet it makes them hard and roots can’t penetrate but I only just figured that out recent as these were being transplanted the back left was really small and not growing came to find out the roots couldn’t penetrate the pot when it’s dry so I’ve been trying to bottom water them it seems to be working pretty good so far but it’s my first run I just started two weeks ago and roots growing through in 1 week so that’s a good sign far. A lot of those roots with the curled leaves are probably still trapped maybe I should try to dig in and help it out a little open it up I did just switch to flower couple days ago

I use the shotglass size of those kinda pots for my vegetables but I soak them really well to the point they’re almost falling apart and wait until the roots are showing on the outside before planting. Now I just sow my weed straight into a very wet soil, works fine too and less work.
