Katsu Bluebird Genetics

Hey man, I ran your Sour Bubba a couple seasons ago and it was absolutely delicious fire! Great terps and huge buds! :sunglasses:

So easy to gloss right over this crucial point.

Day 60 of flower for this blue nips 2, things got thick pretty quickly so I’ve had her near fans and pulling the plug on the early side. The first was harvested a couple of days ago. Really nice growth on this one.

And next up is some pleasure dome, I have heard good things.

Good vibes and happy growing everyone :green_heart::muscle:

Here’s an OG Mango x Pre98 at about 5 weeks old. I did a Bubba’s Breath last year that turned out stellar. We’ll see what’s up with this come autumn.

Note about the Heirloom Skunks: The flower time for maximum nose is 88 days, with perfection being somewhere between 84-88. Keep in mind this is for a SEXUALLY MATURE plant (germinated 3-4 months before flowering). Typically if you flower from seed before this time it will take a little longer (and not be quite as good, that’s why the 2nd run from clone is often better than the 1st from seed).

If you’re growing these out and you ARE NOT getting a seriously rank odor by day 80, please hit me up. I had one person from here tell me they grew out 20 with only a sweet nose and that hasn’t been the typical user experience so far, but I’m eager to hear the feedback if you had this issue, too.

The 79 Skunk is the rankest, foulest, nastiest smelling thing I can remember growing and the closest I’ve found to road kill since the early 2000’s, including Stoney’s 80’s Skunk, Trinity Skunk, and Texas Shoreline.

I want that rank Skunk.

Hey Katsu, thanks for popping in, I’ve know you for a bit, you and your wife have sheets been kind in interactions and we’ve even talked family stuff. It’s very clear to me you’re a real one and have a knack for good selection.

Anything I’ve ever grown from you seems to involve good selection and everything I sorted through in the diesel release (my only experience so far) was vigorous and among the best plants from each big pop I did. Im bummed I forgot to do the bogo and snag a few more.

I think the main criticism from others was that you were doing a reproduction of the blueberry when it’s still available from the source in some way, which in your defense, was also something I was unaware of. Also, each time you change things up a bit, you’re going to upset someone. I’ve seen breeders criticized for their packs being too available or too cheap…:joy:

I think there’s something you’re doing that an old client of mine used to do, and it rubs a certain percentage of people the wrong way. Like, his emails used to really bother his competitors, and some other wine nerds, yet he sold more wine and booze than most of them. :man_shrugging:

Plus, in some people’s eyes, as a breeder you’re /we’re supposed to produce completely stable line, not make anything that bothers someone else, not use one of the 75000 names already in use, not charge more than what X person deems acceptable for X number of beans, not reproduce a pack without the expressed written consent of X breeder or random person you’ve never heard of, etc., ad nausem.

Anyway, welcome, I think if you stick around you’ll see there are a lot of great folks around! However, the very nature of this place will always lead to a certain anti-commercial vibe so you might get some negativity here and there.

Hey Katsu good to see you here!

Got some pics for you of your celestial tremors. You sent me a free pack a couple years ago at Christmas. Thanks again for that! It was a big help at the time.

Figure at the least I owe some pics!

It’s been a great strain. Good yielder. Nice relaxing high. Tastes and smells amazing. Kind of like a skunky bubba. Like you, I am a big fan of gassy/skunky/funky strains.

Turned out nice. Can’t really go wrong with those parents!

OG Mango x Pre98. Vegged relatively slow, and there’s tight node spacing so probably a Bubba leaner?
This was the first of mine to trigger. It’s about a week ahead of the others on my back deck.

I have Snow Plow and a few others I am excited to grow.

They are looking great, I popped three of these recently for my winter grow, hoping to find an OG mango leaner for 2025 outdoor season.

Most of my gear is Katsu, I like his breeding style and he is almost always available for questions and his policy on replacements is unmatched.

Sweet!
Do you know if the OG Mango is a cut of Mango Haze, or a cross?
I’ve read the write up from Stoney on the website, which sold me, but I’m curious about the exact lineage.

OG MANGO is a cross of Dr PurPur, it’s a s1 of the Josh d OG x a special MNS Mango Haze Male . This cross is very old and it is uncirculated. Kept under a really tight grip.

here are some pics of the mother plant I found over at IC MAG.
