Light for 2x4x60" tent

If you are planning on increasing your grow area later then a dimmable 600W is not a bad thing right now.

My big one is 640 watts and normally I run max about 530 watts in flower (in a 4 x 4).

Thanks! I’ll try the hps. I always read 7000 lumens per square feet and with a 600 watt hps in a 2x4 would be around 11,000 lumens per square ft. I could heighten the light and try to keep a strong light spectrum which I hear plants can feel…

You are going in the right direction.

Measuring light at the tops of the plant is the way to go.
Having a dimmable light means you can get the same intensity independent to light height (handier in taller tents…).

It sounds like you have a meter, or you are thinking about it…
(Careful saying “lumens per square foot”… the science nerds will jump on that…)
All the ‘cool kids’ use PAR meters but I do just fine with a cheapo Lux meter.

That was a big jump forward for me in controlling my grow environment.
It’s better to get a dedicated meter as the smart phone apps can vary significantly.

Just wondering about heat in a 2x4 with hps?

I ran a 600 watt dimmable digital ballast in a 2x4 for a very long time. Just had to keep it dimmed, and use a cool tube with a good exhaust fan. That light now resides in a 4x4, which is more appropriate for it.

I get 2 30ish bucks bloomspect on Amazon
Or another brand that’s about the same.

Say
300 or 600 watt equivalent.
Can’t go wrong.

A 600 has or anything will only cover 3ish by 3 ish
And the heat is a bitch in a tent.
LED Is like jet planes to propellers.
You save to , with all I run
My bill is around 50 a month

600w is what I’ve always used in 2x4 until this run. Tried a 200 watt LED because I saw first hand the results my friend was having. Would never switch back. My light puts out more than the 600w would have and no need for bulb changes or buying replacements. The cost of bulbs alone over the next 3-5yrs was way more than the whole LED even cost so no brainier here but I changed bulbs every other run. Also no need for a big air cooled hood.:v:

Though a couple of these will also work nicely.

Depends on what money your willing to spend.
HLG 350R Diablo is worth a look if cash isn’t much of an issue.

I have a Mars hydro sp250 running in my 4x2. It’s a good light aside from no dimmer pot available on it but the upgraded model sp3000 does I believe. It’s a bar light built for the 4x2 in mind. I’ve also used my 240w quantum board in there with strong results as well. Budget is the first task which should widdle down your options

Thank you  I would definitely rather spend more upfront on better quality than have to replace them later on
