Light for 2x4x60" tent

Having trouble with my Mars Hydro TSW2000. The dimmer control seems to be getting wonky.

Looking for a proper replacement in the 300w range with a dimmer knob. Also long enough to cover the 2x4 tent.

What do Y’all suggest?

If your wanting to stick with mars their sp3000 looks like a good candidate. 300w and 2x4 light pattern.

The sp series by them is forsure a step up from the ts series. And the sp3000 would cover every inch of the 2X4 perfectly.

Mars has come a long way

They’ve narrowed there line to eliminate all the older style leds

The newer sp models look like they will do the job well

I’ve switched over to California lightworks the 250 full spectrum would fill the bill also

Depending on the $$$ you wish to spend

Bar lights are better for getting light evenly through the whole tent.

I got one of these:

Would this light do me?

anything will work. but if you look at the ppfd chart it really drops off on the ends. 1000 in the center is great but 500 on the ends is a bit low for flowering.

if its only the dimmer those can like be replaced, saying that any issue running it at full.

very true cut the wire off one side of the dimmer and you will be at full power.

well with the way the dimmers seem to work on them you have a switch that either goes to full or dimmer control, and to have the potentiometer fail i mean ive had two die on my diy lights over time so if thats the only issue doesn’t make sense to scrap a light for a $1.5 part imo.

Cheapest would be 3 100w qb style lights like these

I use one of their 480w bar lights in half my 8x4 and it’s badass

That should be an ok unit. It has LM381b diodes and a Sosen driver. I might go with the XS2000 series. I have 3x XS4000’s and they are great lights for their price point. In the comments section of the XS4000 series lamps there used to be coupon codes for pretty good discounts that can be applied on top of the Amazon coupon code for 30 bucks… the discount would bring the price of an XS2000 closer to that of this unit.
The XS2000 has a 30 off coupon if you check the checkbox… that brings it down to 200 bux!

Look in the used market for a tsl2000 or a sf2000 or 2x ts1000’s to give you more options.

You cpuld also replace the faulting parts or contact MH to see if they can help.

I had a ballast blow on my tsl2000 due to a rare and random power surge and they sent me a replacement driver for free

Hi. What do you all think about sufficient lighting for a 2x4 tent? I’m leaning towards a 600 watt hps is this overkill? Just wondering what your thoughts are. Thanks!

For the sake of space you might be better off using a LED type grow light.

Current design rule is 30 watts per square foot, so for a 2 x 4 that’s 240 watts total.
I would strongly recommend a light with a dimmer (I seldom get close to 30w/ft).

240w DIY Bridgelux build is what I use. Like @Gpaw said, cant keep it turned up all the way. Check out the cheap led and diy thread.

Thanks guys! I can fit 3 or 4 100 watt leds in the tent. The leds are not dimmable. The 600 watt hps would actually save room and I can adjust it. So I guess I’m leaning towards the hps…
